Saying True North has our best interests in mind is also quite farfetched. That is true. True north will do what is best for True North. however, to suggest there is a conspiracy to prevent an NHL team from coming to Winnipeg is utter nonsense... WEC sabatoged the NHL in Winnipeg when the Jets were HERE so why would false north be any different? They burned the stagehands union damaging our reputation with concert promoters across North America. You didn't see the press go after them for that. They have locked all other winter sports out of the MTSC yet you don't see any media outcry. Remember, the media covered up the Crocus implosion until it was old news and now most people have already forgotten it. The idea of the media covering up false north blocking the NHL from returning to Winnipeg isn't a big stretch.

Why should True North be required to have "our" best interests in mind? In today's world nobody does anything unless it is going to help themselves. I understand people are bitter with Chipman but he's just doing what all of us would do and looking out for himself first.

Yes, BUT Ratzy, my friend-of-friends, $40 million of OUR tax money went into the MTS Centre!
Shouldn't we have some say?

You would think they would have the publics best interests in mind, otherwise they eventually will fail

"They burned the stagehands union damaging our reputation with concert promoters across North America." What are you a f***ing moron!?!?! The MTS centre is the 3rd busiest arena in Canada!! Only the Bell Centre in Montreal and the Air Canada Center in Toronto are busier and we're the 27th I believe in North America!! Yeah, we're getting so many less concerts!!! And that whole union thing is a bunch of bullGo Jets Go. The people that built the MTSC weren't involved with how the old arena is run why the h*ll would they have to hire the same people? Especially when they got a better deal with who their employing now?? Last time I check we live in a free market society were we are free to hire whomever we want (without discrimination). True North didn't have contract with them and could sign any company they wanted!!

MTS Centre 3rd busiest in Canada..? I thought it was 5th or 6th?
Anyways, ALL new facilities go through a "honeymoon phase". It wouldn't surprise me if we were the 15th busiest arena in Canada 3 years from now.
Hey, Moose attendance has decreased rapidly... it's likely the number of events in Winnipeg soon will too.
I'm sure when the Winnipeg Arena opened in the 50's it got a ton of acts.

Yeah, I just heard it on the radio. Pollstar ranked MTSC for 2005 the 3rd busiest. Which is impressive even though it is the honeymoon period, considering that it holds less than all the other major arena's and our population is smaller and apparantly poor / cheap depending on who you ask.

Yeah I love that... if Winnipeg is SO cheap and SO poor, why all the great attendance for these concerts where tix are as high as $140? Oh... I guess they're all out-of-towners...

When you have as much tax money in your business venture as chipman does, you can't afford to act in the manner in which he has.

It has ALWAYS been that way.... people only do things that BENEFIT THEMSELVES. Even those that volunteer and help people out are still doing it for themselves.... they do it because it makes themselves feel good from helping others.

Men who want arenas that only seat 11,000 aren't people who want to do everything in their power to lure an NHL team back!

That was before anyone even thought of a team coming back to Winnipeg!

Wow. Some "vision" Mark Chipman has eh? He didn't realize that all Winnipeg was missing was a state-of-the-art arena 15,000+ seats to get an NHL team back in Winnipeg.
Puh-lease.
HINT: The 'sunbelt' teams were still playing in front of half-empty arenas back in late '99, early 2000 (when the new arena was being planned).

Well fact is that in the end it was a 15000 capacity arena. You were bashing Y2Jets earlier, but if I recall the Chipman bashing from you is starting to go a little stale aswell.
