Did anyone else see the design for the Human Rights Museum that they want to put at the Forks? It was on the front page of today's Free Press.
They say the tower would be almost the same height as the Richardson building.
I'm a fan of anything that adds to the city skyline.
Who knows if it will actually be built, cause they need $200 Million in funding.

What an incredible looking building, it will really change the skyline with that and the bridge right behind it

The design of the building is very unique. Probably going to take a while to get used to seeing when you look at the city skyline just like Im sure the CN Tower was for Torontonians in the 1970's.

That is one ugly looking design... Ugly, come on, it is unique and different, in my opinion a great addition for the skyline of Winnipeg, just wish there wasn't so much taxpayer money going into it

Yeah, Dachau is a must on any visit to Munich. (Oddly enough, I didn't go. Was at a concentration camp near Berlin, and didn't need to go to another one.) From what I understand, not only will tourists come (maybe not in droves, but, at the very least, now they have more of a reason to stop when driving across the Prairies to the Rockies from Southern Ontario, or vice versa) but the museum hopes to be a place where police officers and politicians visit in order to better understand the suffering that has happened, and how to best deal with it.

Notice in that article how much "pledge" money was donated:
$30 million from the federal government $20 million from the Manitoba government $20 million from the city of winning $40 million from individuals, corporations and others
It's obvious that there is outside and provincial support for the future of winnipeg. It would be great if those same groups would give up that much "pledge" money for an NHL franchise.....cause that would deffinitly be a great addition to the future of winnipeg.

Jets > Human Rights museum
I thought the Aspers were putting up most of the money for the museum.
