As was reported on TSN.ca today. Gary Bettman invited Bob Goodenow to the bargaining table to try and work out a deal.
Any thoughts?

To be honest with you, i think that the meeting will accomplish absolutley nothing.
The NHL gives, and gives, and gives. I will admit, that the NHPLA has come along way in giving as well, but all they are really doing is taking.
The fact is, NHL tickets are already overpiriced, Merchandise is already overpriced, and concessions are already, and have been for many years WAY overpriced... A roll back wont cut it. Salaries are TOO HIGH! thats why they need to cut them, and cap them. There is no more room to increase ticket prices, or F & B prices, or even merchandise prices. Everything is too high as it is, so to cut salaries, and then let them go back up in a few years hoping they can raise prices on everything else is beyond absurd. I think Goodenow knows that, but wants his 15 minutes as a hero in the players eyes...
To say that a 42Million Dollar salary cap is not good enough is the biggest load of horse Go Jets Go i have even seen. HELLO?? MCFLY??? Teams are LOSING money, there is a poor TV contract, less than subpar attendances, and next to no fan base (people to buy merchandise) in 6 or 7 NHL cities. This is a Sport where guys should be 1/25th of a team and make 8 Million a year? once again, i say HELLO?? MCFLY??? What is Goodenow thinking?
Don't get me wrong, I would never take anything away from the players, i love the game, and think that it should be more populair than it is. I think those guys deserve to be paid incredibly well. This, however, is not a sport where 1 individual can be paid those kinds of dollars. I assume Goodenow has an education (judging by his important position which effects careers or players and business men, as well as the future of NHL Hockey in general). Its as simple as stepping back and doing the math. The big salaries cant happen. Sign the deal at 42 mil, because calling it generous is a understatement.

The players are making too much money. Well, a percentage of them are. I think a few players that have been making a lot have realized that and before the lockout took place, they lowered their salaries. Probably is they wanted high signing bonuses. That's just silly.
TSN.ca has reported that there is homework for the owners. That's funny. Will they get detention if they don't hand it in on time?
