Noticed on TSN today, that Eugene Melynk, owner of the Ottawa Senators, has suggested that the players have a secret ballot vote. He went on to suggest that SHOULD they do this, we may ALL be very surprised at the results.
This suggests that of the 800 some odd NHL Players, the MAJORITY would play under the NHL'S cost certainty system. Thoughts...?

I just read that on the TSN website. It would be interesting for sure. I doubt the players will do that though. It would be interesting if the owners would vote as well. I would like to see the numbers, how many owners are on the same side.

I think it would be a close vote. But obviously the NHLPA would be surprised at the amount of players ready to cross the picket lines. Basically here's how it's going to shake down. Bettman has Goodenow in his pocket right now. There is no way that this deal is being finalized without a cap. So Goodenow will have to go back to the players (hopefully sometime next year) and say "well look guys we fought a good fight but the cap was the only option. sorry for keeping you locked out for a full year and having you lose salaries." A lot of players relaize that this is going to be the case and have no problem with the cap. Seriously, what's a few million less when from 3 to 1? Oh no! I can't drive my 5 cars now! What the NHL should have is a combine much like the NFL does for the rookies. The take them into a big room for a full weekend and tell them about how to manage their money and such. That's just my opinion tho!

i think every single league should have a program for all of its players on money management. how is a 20 year old supposed to know how to manage a million bucks. i know i would have done a piss poor job of it too and im pretty good at managing my cash. but a million buck at that age is recipe for disaster.

People wuld be very surprised I'd say 65% of the players would agree to play right now.
