With the season cancellation announcement coming for this weekend, the secret meeting and proposal being shot down means that we're in those precious days/hours where both sides will have to try for a solution.
People say there shouldn't be an NHL season. Well, if 28 games are played and another bunch of playoff games are played, then that makes money for the league. A season lost means lawsuits and penalties and no revenue coming into the league. Even a 28 game season would make some money.
But back to the topic, Goodenow says that the proposal is a slap in the face? Well telling fans that you guys need to make this ridiculus amount of money for not being that great of a player is a slap in the face to fans and the owners.
Sure, the owners screwed up by raising salaries and that's usually how caps come into play but every other league has accepted a cap and actually have the support and demand that the NHL doesn't have. Take the Cap, it's the highest you'll get.
I know for a fact that Bettman is doing everything to make sure replacement players can come in for next year. He's making it look like he's doing his best.
I don't think the owners should have given 42 million dollars for salary just yet until the league stabalizes since Edmonton said they would fold under that cap which I think is silly.
Lost wages, lost revenue, high cap, take it players.
Big thing here, Let the players vote. In a lockout or strike, there are always votes. If this current contract went to a vote, I'm guessing on at least 80% would vote yes. I bet at least 70 % would have voted yes to the other proposals.
Send it to a vote. Please. I want my hockey on TV.
