We will finally see a drop-dead date... it's about time.
Then we'll know one way or another if and when the season could be cancelled.

Report: NHL poised to cancel season
WebPosted Tue, 08 Feb 2005 21:00:27 EST
The NHL reportedly will soon specify a drop-dead date on the 2004-05 season, if not simply cancel it outright.
Pierre Lebrun of The Canadian Press suggested Tuesday that league commissioner Gary Bettman is likely to pull the plug either later this week or next week "if a miracle agreement isn't reached before then."
Neither the NHL nor the NHL Players' Association have asked to resume negotiations since last Friday's talks ended after four hours.
The two sides have struggled to find common ground on a new collective bargaining agreement since the players were locked out 146 days ago by league commissioner Gary Bettman.
"I was resigned to the fact there wouldn't be a season way back in the summer time," admitted Michael Peca, who is captain of the New York Islanders.
"It was obvious what was going to happen throughout the negotiations, where both sides staked their claims early on what was going to be acceptable and what wasn't going to be acceptable and you kind of knew where it was going to go from that point."
Should the NHL season be cancelled, it would mark the first time among North America's four major professional sports that an entire regular-season campaign had to be scrubbed because of a labour dispute.
The possibility also exists that the Stanley Cup may not be awarded for the first time since a Spanish flu wiped out the 1919 finals.
