Considering that the two sides are still talking, and meetings are scheduled for today/tonight, there is a slim possibility that they could solve this thing. That is how it looks anyway.
What is everyone's take? Is the new CBA, if they agree on something, going to work for Winnipeg? Will they agree on a CBA that will spell doom for the small market franchises? If a soft cap range is implemented, will that curb over spending on player salaries enough, or will you have a league of haves and have nots?
I personally am at a loss right now regarding these meetings and whether there will be a season, or a CBA that will benefit small markets...

I'm also at a loss... if the meetings are going so long, they can only be talking, and likely serious negotiations are happening at this stage. Seems like there was no chance of that at recently as Wednesday.
I think there is a solution that can be found that keeps both sides happy: either a hybrid tax/cap or a deal that has a tax for 3 years then becomes a cap for the next 3 years. There is common ground to be found there.
At the end of the day, no matter what the deal, I think there will probably be a system that keeps payrolls under $45M US, with some type of revenue sharing - either actual revenue sharing, or perhaps a distribution of luxury tax money to lower revenue teams.
A hard cap at $32M with revenue sharing would have been great for us, but that ship has sailed. 100% revenue sharing like the NFL would mean you could put a team anywhere, but that won't happen either. The big deciding factor for me as to whether the CBA works for us or not is: does it keep big-market teams from driving salaries up and pricing players out of our range?
Let's face it, Winnipeg will never generate the revenue Toronto does - but as long as the CBA guarantees we can remain financially competitive with all the other teams in the league, then I have no doubt we can make it work, no matter what they decide on.

i dont think they will agree on a new cba tonight. the owners will still throw in the cap or something that they know the players will reject. that way they can force a hard cap on the league using replacement players and the union will buckle which is what the owners want. i think the players will be the ones to make an offer and knowing that, i wouldnt be expecting any form of a cap in there=season cancelled.......we chant GO JETS GO!!

Looks like season will be toast if tsn reports are true. I look at that as good news as far as Winnipeg is concerned!
