Michael Landsberg said something that I hadn't thought about before.
If the NHL comes back with replacement players next year, most of the players will be coming from there farm clubs. So my question is when all of the Moose are playing for Vancouver, who is going to be playing for the Moose, or any of the AHL teams for that matter, and what happens to that league?

it looks like everyone will move up a notch.so the AHL will raid the ECHL,which will in turn raid the UHL,which in turn will raid the Central hockey league, and so on....So everyone's hockey will drop a notch in talent.but not neccesarilly excitement.

I remember the 1987 NFL strike. Scabs were brought in after a deal could not be reached between the owners and players. At first, crowds were sparse. Then something interesting happened- the fans started coming back midway through the season, players started to break ranks (knowing they were up against a wall), and eventually the Players Association gave in to the demands of the league.
Almost 20 years later, the NFL is by far the richest, and most popular sports league in the world.

The one difference with the NFL Scabs is that they didn't come from minor leagues, they were basically just guys off the street who wanted to play football. NHL Scabs would all come from minor leagues, and a majority from the NHL, so the Moose would have to find players from the beer leagues.

The players could come from Europe who lost their jobs to locked out NHL players. NHL players are sort of scabs themselves. Taking jobs away from other players when they should be locked out. As Mad Dog Vachon would say "It's a dog eat dog world"
