Is the NHL entry draft legal and is it needed?
My response is yes its legal, though I would like to have each team have some territorial rights like the Montreal Canadiens had back in the day (1950s). For example Winnipeg would have rights to players who were born here and played in the whl and ncaa in grand forks and minnesota.

I don't see anything wrong with the entry draft. There should be an age limit as to when a player can play in the NHL. Some players are rushed into the NHL and that hurts them in the long run or much higher expectations of a player than he's capable of giving. Mimimum age should be 20. This alows a player to complete his junior eligibility and play at least one season in the minors. There's a huge difference in the level of play from junior to NHL. As for territorial rights, I would agree to that but what kind of players would the Coyotes, Thrashers, Panthers, Predators, etc, etc, have territorial rights to? Even more reason to get rid of the Southern teams.

Those are my thoughts as well and the prospects should be mandatory one year in the minors or 40 games in the minors the one year and 40 games in the next year. The remainder of the games could be played in the NHL.
