The more struggling U.S. teams (particulary in the south) that miss the playoffs, the better!
That's a lot of lost revenue without ANY home playoff games. And it just may be the factor that contributes to an owners decision to sell the team.
So, I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I'm rooting for the Leafs and Habs- for the first time ever. If they do well and get in the playoffs, that means Tampa and Atlanta won't, which in turn means more lost revenue for those teams.... (deep breath).. which, in turn, means that the owners will "want out of this pro ice hockey business" SOONER, rather than later...
Carolina and Nashville will make the playoffs... but hopefully they lose in the first round. I'm pretty sure they'll lose buckets of $ this year no matter what... but the more they lose, the faster that "for sale" sign will go up...
...and the sooner Winnipeg can buy them and bring them up here.

another thing to help accelerate the process: DONT BUY JERSEY'S FROM THE SOUTHERN TEAMS!!! dont buy them because, a) ur supporting them (its not a lot, but some) b) u wont have to worry about ROTJ supporters chassing you down.

You also would be hurting Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and even Vancouver and all other NHL teams, they split this revenue equally no matter who sells what.

The poor market teams missing the playoffs would be ideal but the next best thing to that would be quick uneventful losing playoff series.
Anaheim, Carolina and Tampa all got temporary boosts from their runs in the past. It just delays the inevitable for these franchises.

What I'd like to know is which of the current teams the Retro Jets merchandise is out selling.
