Anyone hear Bettman on Prime Time Sports w Bob Mcowan Jan/12? Talk about Mr. Rose Coloured Glasses! When he mentions attendance is up I just want to crawl through the T.V. and choke the "spin doctor". The other thing that ticked me off is Bob asking Bettman about cities interested in getting a team and rattles off Vegas ,K.C., Houston and then almost as an after thought he says something to the effect "even Winnipeg". It seems as more and more "Big" cities throw their name into the hat Winnipeg gets pushed further to the back of the bus - eventually out of sight - maybe??

Always trying to see something positive, I guess it's good that he mentioned Winnipeg, it was just a couple of months ago that he stated that Winnipeg wasn't even on the leagues "radar"

Why is Betteman Commis? He is not even a hockey guy. The day the NHL get's rid of this little weasel is the day the leauge returns to it's roots and REAL markets. QUE< HFD< WPG for example, not ATL<CAR<PHX<NAS. These sun belt teams make me want to puke. They can keep NASCAR and we have NHL- that is the deal- OK?

Part of me thinks that Bettman would be THRILLED to have Winnipeg in the league instead of a team like Carolina, Nashville, or Florida.
He will never admit this, of course. But I don't think it's that unlikely that he may be thinking this.
He MUST know we have a brand new state-of-art arena, superior to a few current NHL arenas and fully NHL quality.

From what I understand he must know. On another thread here somebody posted that he was going to be at the AHL all star game. (why he will be there I have no idea) so if that is true, he will see the arena

Everyone should go to the AHL all-star game and we should all chant GO JETS GO !!! BRING EM BACK !!!
It would be amazing and he'll notice once again that we are indeed the best fans as every seat will be filled to the rafters

yeah man, that exactly what we need to do. Bettman and all those naysayers wouldn't be able to agnore that, i cant think of anything better to do. oh that is besides wining the lottery and buying a team.

i have a plan. a secret plan.
we should get csis to secretly get betman overthrown and apoint a canadain who wants the best for the game. no one tell betman, it's a secret...secret
also the fact that winnipeg was mentioned and places like quebec and hamilton weren't(from what i gather) is a good thing and shows bettman recognises us

I re-read my post and realized it was worded not too clearly. It was Bob that mentioned all the cities not Bettman. Bob was throwing the names of the cities out and mentioned Winnipeg lastly. Sorry about the wording of my original post.

i watched the same program, and bobcat threw out winnipeg at the end like we're the obvious choice, imo.
the only problem i had with the program was bobcat didn't call bettman on attendance vs. tickets distributed.
attendance is up at bettman's apartment too, except no one visits !

The issue of NHL relocation and franchise value was discussed again on Friday's program.
Winnipeg was ALWAYS in the discussion along with KC, Houston, Las Vegas and Oklahoma City(?). Oklahoma was then said to be a non-issue because one panelist was "certain" they would be getting NBA and not NHL. Bob said he had "doubts about that" but this other guy was adament that it was happening.
Franchise value increase......concensus was that it was "TRUE".....but only for teams that were making money in the old system. The bad market teams would not see an increase.
Regarding 250 million offer to Bettman for an expansion franchise. "Why didn't Bettman just send them to St. Louis...they have been for sale for a long time... and they could buy that team for about 1/3 of that??"
The panel was finally polled as to how many teams they expected to move within the next five years:
One guy said "two for sure" One said "two for sure, probably three" The next said "three" Bob said "FIVE!"
Doesn't mean too much.....but concensus that "teams will be moving......and this from people that have some inside contacts/knowledge.
