some of you may be familiar with LARider, a poster on Sportsnet, that claims to have contacts with AEG... I'm not sure how credible he is and always am skeptical about what's posted on the internet, but anyway he's predicting teams in KC and Houston are sure things, that the NHL will expand to 32 teams although it seems highly unlikely any Canadian team will be involved... Here's the link to his thread...read at your discretion... forums.sportsnet.ca/thread.jspa?threadID=65237&tstart=30

This guy loses a lot of credability with me, for a few reasons:
1) He works for AEG, and is pretty obviously just towing the company line. Just because AEG wants teams in Houston and KC doesn't mean it will happen, especially in an era of revenue sharing. Houston will probably make money but KC is a risk, at best.
Reading his posts is pretty much like reading Anshutz' personal plan for world domination, so I find them hard to take seriously....
2) The arena deal in Pittsburgh is far from dead. The city has pledged $90M to a new rink, regardless of the outcome with the slots license, and there are only 4 bidders in the running for that, 2 of which are favored, one of which is Mario's group. He's probably got a 50/50 chance of getting that license, so how can he be so confident the Pens are moving to KC?
3) He stated that the new CBA provides for 2 expansion teams, which is the first I've heard of that. That would certainly grab much more media attention if it were true
4) These arena deals sound great for AEG, but they already own the Kings, and the NHL bylaws prevent an owner from owning more than one team. Therefore, if AEG was to make any money off these deals, it's from luxury suites, parking, concessions, etc in the arenas. Can a team survive in KC without these important revenue streams? Doubtful....
