Yeah I'm getting tired of all this Wpg-K.C.-Houston talk too, but hey, what's one last rant (yeah right) gonna hurt?
Before I say what I say, let me tell you that I believe Winnipeg WILL be the next city to acquire a team.
Here's the approach the cities are taking (publicity-wise):
Kansas City: "GIVE US A TEAM! WE HAVE AN ARENA COMING. WE ARE *DEFINITELY* INTERESTED IN HAVING NHL HOCKEY AT THE SPRINT CENTER!"
Houston: see above, but replace "Sprint Center" with "Toyota Center".
Winnipeg: (courtesy of Mark Chipman)- "We are monitoring the situation. I'm not gonna say we want a team, or this city deserves one or this city can support one or this city can afford one... heck, I certainly don't have the money to buy a team! But again, we're LOOKING at the NHL."
"I am not going to say Wpg wants a team or will ever even pursue a team, but I CAN tell you we wouldn't stand in the way of it. It would be interesting to see if Winnipeg can afford tickets. That remains to be seen."
Now I'm not saying True North's approach is right or wrong (again, I'm 100% confident the next NHL team will go to Wpg). But the above really makes you see how ambitious True North is.
Really now... how many Moose season ticket holders would get upset and not renew because the owners of the MTS Centre said "We would love to part of the NHL again someday." ?

Houston will get a team before KC, unless the NHL is incredibly stupid....

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I stumbled upon a great site which tracks all rumours and articles regarding the expansion/relocation of NHL franchises within the league. www.geocities.com/nhlexpandrelocate/
