This is no "campaign" in Quebec. No NHL arena. No NHL arena on the horizon. Give it up.
Kansas City? Sure, they'll have their "Sprint Center" (18,000 seats, way nicer than the MTS Centre too), but who cares? I can count the number of die-hard hockey fans in K.C. on one hand. They may express interest, but how many wealthy people living in Missouri do you think want to be part of a "pro ice hockey" ownership group?
And Lemieux's e-mail address? Pfft.... everyone has it! I can't believe you don't! *rolls eyes*

Haven't seen anything here in KC as far as an RotJ-type campaign. Anschutz (sp?) and AEG are trying really hard to get either NBA or NHL here, though.
And officially, Sprint Center will only seat a little more than 17K for hockey.
I'm still not totally sure a team would succeed here; we're used to shelling out about $50-80 for 8-10 games a year (Chiefs), but not 40+ like for an NBA or NHL team. Perhaps the rich folks from Johnson County will pick up the slack (believe me, the money is there), but filling an arena more than 40 times out of the year is going to be tough. I love my city, will probably die here, but I really think NHL belongs in Winnipeg. I think NBA right now would work better here; the NBA has more recognizable star power (at least among mainstream American sports fans), and the basketball tradition here is far stronger than hockey (the Blades did draw well, though).

www.retourdesnordiques.com/Friench only for now. I have a friend from Quebec City and he doesn't think it will happen. The new mayor has come out against the idea of building an arena.

There you have it. Now we can lay off all the ridiculous "I want the Nords back!" posts and threads? Put it to rest. It's dead. When/if it's announced that Quebec is building a brand new NHL-quality arena, then talk about it. But speculation right now is a waste of time. Use that time you would have used for "I want the Nords back!" rants and go find more revenue sources for Winnipeg's new NHL team. If you do this, I'll like you more and have more respect for you.

To be honest, I don't really care what other cities (especially those without viable arenas) are doing.
Those that have viable arenas and could be a threat to Winnipeg, I am concerned about (regardless about how passionate Wpg fans, how it would work here etc)
Remember this is the NHL, so many of their decisions make you go WTF!!
After the Jets are back, then I am all for Quebec and Hartford getting teams back, I never want to see a team in KC or Vegas though

That would be great if KC or Oklahoma City get teams!!! That would mean Winnipeg would get to choose from two more money losing teams in hopes of bringing them here.

God, when I heard that Whalers fight song I had nightmares. Brings back memories of listening to the Jets play the Whalers in Hartford back in the 70's. When the Whalers scored you'd hear that darn song and they would play it for what seemed like forever. And Kenny Nicholson would stop talking because he couldn't be heard over the music. I just hated it when the Jets got scored on.

I hated when the Jets got scored on, period(which was literally every game at least 3 times). Maybe that's why I have so much anger in me!
jk ;D
