Well, with this great progress that The Return of the Jets Campaign has made, it looks like a good possibility Quebec City might follow suit. This is something I've been hoping would happen. Over at the fan forum I've told you guys I'm a part of (FanHome Hockey), I saw today at the Montreal Canadiens team message board that a gentleman posted a thread to explain he's organizing an upcoming rally during Quebec City's mayoral election campaign period. It would be to jumpstart interest in bringing back the Quebec Nordiques or at least NHL hockey back there. I'm definitely interested in everyone's thoughts on this. I even made a comment myself there. Here is the thread I'll refer everyone to: mb4.scout.com/fmontrealcanadiensfrm1.showMessage?topicID=8353.topic"Major move in progress in Quebec to get the Nordiques back!"

Tough call in Quebec... their population is about the same size as Winnipeg, but I don't know much about the economic climate in the city. Just looking at the geography, I would assume most large corporate offices in Quebec are based out of Montreal. Winnipeg has the "advantage" of being geographically isolated, so I would suspect we have a lot more corporate branch offices. On the surface, the obvious thing they are lacking is a new arena. Those don't grow on trees. The difference with Winnipeg is that there were two major drivers for building the arena: concerts and the Moose. In Quebec City, they attract far fewer concerns anyway, since they are so close to Montreal (4 hour drive) and they have never supported minor pro hockey at all. Given those factors, it seems to me that they would have a tough road ahead of them attracting either the private investment or government support to build an arena. On the plus side, people are talking about it. Gotta start someplace. I have to admit a Jets-Nordiques game a few years down the road just sounds so.... right.

Winnipeg, Hartford and Quebec City should all have teams. Quebec City seems like it will have the hardest hill climb to get the NHL back though. Small French-Canadian city that is much more French than it is Canadian.
God Bless em' and good luck though. I happen to think the Nordiques-Canadiens rivalry was the greatest in hockey.

I would love to see the three ex-WHA teams return back to where they were. I think Vivianmb made this point previously why those three are gone.
Anyway for QC do they really want Aubut to own the team again? I am all for it, those classic Nords/Habs games were unreal, I am sure if you ask Sakic about he would say the same

When with Avs played Montreal in Quebec a few years ago during the preseason Sakic said Quebec City was the greatest hockey city in North America.
Ah that would be sweet to see Winnipeg, Hartford and Quebec all back in the NHL.......to sweet.
