It's really hard to say, but if this was a neutral site regular season game, I could put money on it that the attendance would've been higher. I won't stretch it too far to say a capacity crowd because I don't live in Kansas City. Plus, I'm not completely on top of ticket sales information and whatever sources that give out related information either.
Unless you are in an Canadian city that is dominated completely by hockey such as Toronto and Ottawa, preseason NHL games generally don't draw well. They are meaningless exhibition games for rookies and training camp invitees vying for a spot on the NHL teams. One of those exceptions was last night's preseason game in Ottawa where there was a Senators' record crowd of 19,311 fans at the Corel Centre. With high-profile NFL football and Major League Baseball games being played here yesterday, the New York Rangers drew roughly 14,600 fans for their preseason home opener against Boston. That's pretty good in my mind, but it's not that much of a surprise considering the large loyal fan base the Rangers have always had for decades.
Regarding Kansas City, it's a "wait and see" attitude from my perspective. I'll bet there will be at least another preseason or regular season neutral site game in that city before the Sprint Center is finished.

KC proved their mettle with that crowd. (Especially considering that St. Louis and KC have a longstanding rivalry and really don't like each other. One would expect what happened when Memphis briefly housed the Titans/Oilers when they left Houston, those crowds would have sucked in the CFL...)
This makes KC look good but it also gives them the upper hand in the battle for a team.

Less than 13,000 for a game that's been hyped up an KC for the past year? That's not only bad, but downright pathetic!
I guess one more prediction I made becomes true. The KC market would never support the NHL....

Can someone tell me where Houston came into play on this? I thought it was KC, then Winnipeg. I have not heard anything about the NHL going to Houston.

OK I PISSED OFF NOW! I dont give a rats Go Jets Go if they sold a hockey game in Kansas City for 1 lousy game. These jackass Americans are making sure they dont locate to Canada, Im dam sure theses jerks will put NHL teams in Alaska, Maine ,West Virgina, san Fran ,or any other American city that does not Deserve or need an NHL team, just to prove they are in control on our game. As far as Im concern if these ASSHOLES keep putting teams in the USA to keep ratings high in the US ,we in Canada will not see any more teams here! This american expansion BS just pisses me off
Winnipeg quebec City Hammilton Halifax Sasakatoon or another Southern Ontario team.
The Hell with more American Teams!

how much of a profit is projected for detroit this season? Half the payroll from the last time they played, I am sure all revenue is the same if not more, also depends how far they get in the playoffs, I think $20 million or so, of course how much they show is a different story
