I would like to see Hartford get a team back, not too interested in seeing any teams go to the west coast. Would also like to see one in Hamiliton, then Quebec City, of course all these places need new or updated arenas

Why all the support for Hartford? I have heard no indication whatsoever that anyone is interested in bringing back the Whale. I guess it's a bit of a sentimental favourite i.e. let's make the NHL more like what it was when Winnipeg WAS in the league. I think outside of Winnipeg, the next choice is Hamilton. Outside of that, it's hard to argue the merits of Houston....I know it's in the sunbelt but it's the biggest American city without the NHL, and they have great fans.

Quebec City and Hamilton, bring NHL hockey back to Canada and away from crappy southern US cities!

If I had to pick three US cities to give NHL teams to, I would give teams to:
1. Houston- new arena, history of support for hockey, large population base, natural rivalry with Dallas....
2. Hartford- averaged 14,000 fans/game for almost 20 seasons in NHL, great hockey loaction, rivalry with the Bruins and Rangers...
3. Oklahoma City- great support for pro hockey, new arena, better market than most Sunbelt teams, openly pursuing NHL team...

any canadion team would be great! Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Quebec are the only cities that have the population to support NHL hockey, although I would love to see teams in Saskatoon and Halifax!

Hartford and Quebec loved their teams..even though they didn't win the cup they had the city jumping with joy and were supporting there team even though they didn't go all the way.

Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Quebec are the only cities that have the population to support NHL hockey, although I would love to see teams in Saskatoon and Halifax! When the NHL was comprised of one third Canadian teams, it saw some of its best years. At 30 teams in the NHL, 10 would have to be Canadian. The six current teams, Winnipeg, Quebec, Hamilton and a toss-up of Halifax or Saskatoon. Very unlikely, but one can dream.

now that the rangers are entrenched in hartford with the ahl.you will never see an nhl team in hartford again.both boston and the rangers would use all of their power to block it.

Why all the support for Hartford? I have heard no indication whatsoever that anyone is interested in bringing back the Whale. Just because you dont hear anything doesnt mean it isnt happening. A friend of mine told me the local news in Hartford did a story on the Whalers and Howard Baldwin a few weeks ago. Howard Baldwin says he is dedicated to bringing the NHL back to Hartford. He claims to have a group of Connecticut based fortune 5 hundred companies looking in to buying a team and moving it to Hartford. Howard Baldwin used to own the Whalers and the Pens and is also credited for getting the Whalers, Jets, Nordiques and Oilers into the NHL when the original WHA folded. He just sold his movie production business (his company did Mystery Alaska) and says he's made several trips to the the league office and claims they are very aware of desire to brind the NHL back to Hartford.

Yep..
The guy Disney sold the team to is a Anaheim based billionare who had already owned the stadium the Ducks play in for a number of years. According to him the Ducks are staying put. Of course we've all heard that one before.
D*mn you Karmanos
