There are about 4-5 other cities that deserve an NHL franchise over Houston. But there's a big difference between "deserves" and "likely to get". I think Hartford deserves a team, since Karmanos screwed them over. Ditto Quebec. Hell, even Hamilton and Saskatoon deserve teams, but I can't see it happening realistically for any of these cities. As far as likely to get a team, Houston is at the top of the list. They have a huge population, corporate support, demonstrated support of pro hockey, a new arena and an interested local owner. No other city in the US can say all those things.

With all due respect...
I would say Hartford has a better chance of getting a team then Winnipeg does. You still have a to factor in the American-Canadian dollar differences. Plus, at last count (if im not mistaken) the league was offering somewhere around a 42-43 million dollar cap to the players. After the season was cancelled the NHL claimed that offer will only go down over time. So If i had to guess I would imagine we'll probably be seeing the next full season (with the "original" players) with a cap somewhere around 36-38 million.
Now the articles posted on this website from your local press outlets claim that Winnipeg has no realistic shot at every having an NHL franchise unless the league salary cap is somewhere around 30 million. The Winnipeg mayor didnt seem to offer any support other than to say he'd cheer for them if a team came.
This isnt meant to be an insulting post against Winnipeg or anyone else that (like myself) would love to see the NHL back in Winnipeg. The point I'm trying to make is you cant say Hartford has no shot at getting a team and then go on to say Winnipeg does.

On an ESPN poll not done too long ago about 60 percent of people voted to have Winnipeg back in the NHL if the league started again...The Jets had some memories and standards that are still in the NHL today.. Example: The White Out was made for the Jets in time for playoffs... Last year you had Calgary Sea of Red, Philly's Orange Crush and Tampa's Rip off of the White Out when their home jersey's were BLACK?!?!?!

I would say Hartford has a better chance of getting a team then Winnipeg does. Wrong. I've heard Hartford is a town in decline. Winnipeg has been prosperous as of late (since 2000 atleast). Additionally, the Whalers were always playing second fiddle in their own arena to the U of Connecticut basketball team. The Jets were always #1 in the hearts of Winnipeggers.

Hartfords situation is the New England area with Boston and New York which have huge metropoliton areas..they get no respect from any of those markets but I'd still like to see it happen..
Im still looking for the day the big three come back..meaning Winnipeg, Quebec and Hartford

1....Wrong. I've heard Hartford is a town in decline..... 2....Additionally, the Whalers were always playing second fiddle in their own arena to the U of Connecticut basketball team. 3....The Jets were always #1 in the hearts of Winnipeggers. 1. Hartford took a hit when the Whalers left. That will hurt any city when your only professional sports team leaves. 2. That's your opion, and Im not sure what your basing that on. 3. Of course the Jets were number one in the hearts of Winnipeggers, no surprize there. Hockey is Canada's national sport X 10. Plus the Jets were the cities only "Major" league sports franchise. The Jets didnt get much competition. Look, I didnt mean my original post to be an insult of any kind. In fact I think its better to say Hartford has as good a chance as Winnipeg at getting the next team on the move. I think your underestimating the desire in Hartford's/Connecticut's citizens to get the Whale back. The Whalers still operate the leagues largest Booster Club to this day, and they dont even have a team anymore. The Whalers booster club, along with the former Hartford mayor (who faught to keep the Whale in Hartford) are having a raly at his downtown restaraunt on April, 13th. The raly is beeing sponsored by GoMedia.com and Coors Light. There is a major underground movement going on, you can choose to beleive it or not.

Hartford isn't even talking about a new arena.
The NHL isn't coming back to Hartford anytime soon.
Drop it already. This is a "Return of the Jets" website and I'm sick of hearing about this irrelevant garbage.

It's your own time you're wasting. I'll be the judge of that. I guess anyone with a dream is wasting time. A wonder how civilization has progressed so far with that sort of attitude.
