From tsn.ca:
For starters, the city paid $25 million of the $80-million expansion fee in 1997 (according to Forbes), and the Preds control their rink and have any operating losses from the arena picked up by the city as well

I certainly would. We are in no position to be picky on what team we land.

true, but at what point is it worth it. They could make money by kicking out the Preds and pursue some big name concerts and arena football

... and pursue an NBA franchise.

... and pursue an NBA franchise. Still don't think it'll happen, not with Memphis acquiring one a couple years ago, and with a nice even 30 teams in the league, finally. Relocation is a possibility, but I see a city like St. Louis or San Diego getting a team before Nashville.

With the arena developments going on here in KC, you can't exclude us from that short list, either!

The Titans and University of Tennessee Sports (football, in partictular).

I wonder if there are more Titans jerseys than Preds gear at Nashville NHL games in the Gaylord Center?

The Dallas area has the Cowboys, several College and High School teams. Yet they continue to sellout games to watch the Stars play 11 years after they relocated to the Dallas area.

KC had a minor league franchise last season in the UHL that folded after a single season. LOL. Real good hockey market there!

The NHL, CHL, IHL, and UHL. Those people who say KC is the ideal hockey market sure must know something I'm not aware of...

when i was on my travels in europe, i had some great conversations with a couple of guys from kansas city and a guy from nashville. this is what they had to say. the kc guy says that they are building a great new arena there but its there to lure an nba team. he says the city doesnt even support their baseball team and they love baseball there. he figured it would be cool to have a pro hockey team because it would be neat to see. its all about the chiefs in kansas city. the guy from nashville said that the predators get a tiny bit of media coverage in the very back of the sports section. nobody even notices/cares that there is a lockout going on. he went on to say that its absolutely ridiculous that they have an nhl team when a city like winnipeg doesnt. its all about the titans in nashville.
