(Source: slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/2005/02/02/918110-cp.html)"Atlanta GM Don Waddell has already suggested his season ticket base of 8,000 has been halved." The NHL All-Star game in Atlanta has been cancelled. (Note: They won't get it in 2006 or anytime again soon either). No All-Star game profits. 4,000 season ticket holders lost. There's a good chance Atlanta is now the front-runner to come to Winnipeg. I'm off to River City Sports to buy a Jets jersey with "Kovalchuk" on the back.

I think this is very doubtful...I did some looking this afternoon and Atlanta also has the Thrasher's ECHL team in the Atlanta area. More than likely the season ticket holders are cutting their season tickets and buying season tickets for that ECHL team so they get some hockey for their money.

Yes, the Thrashers last season were purchased by a group of investors called "Atlanta Spirit, LLC", I believe. Part of the deal was for the Hawks and Philips Arena.
With this having been done, it is doubtful they'll move. But if the team goes into serious decline in the next 2 or 3 years, that's where some doubt could really set in.
