I heard that Nashville's original plan was to acquire an NBA team and have it play at the Gaylord Entertainment Center (Home of the NHL's Nashville Predators).
If this is true, then that means the GEC is fully NBA-calibre.
And if the Predators move to Winnipeg, the owners of the GEC could aggressively pursue an NBA expansion team, making sure the arena has a tenant and doesn't sit empty.
I'm sure an NBA team would be much more successful than an NHL team in Nashville.

I don't think the NBA is too focused right now on expansion. They've finally got their 30 teams, which makes for even divisions and conferences. I believe Memphis beat out Nashville for an NBA team... I don't really see two NBA teams in Tennessee. As for Carolina, again, I don't see two NBA teams within the state of North Carolina. Charlotte is just a couple hours down the road, in the heart of college basketball country, not pro leagues.

There has been talk of the Raps future in Toronto if things don't begin to change there. Raptors? Predators? It would be a bit ironic. Wouldn't it.

Also, If toronto did move you'd have both of Canada's Nba teams in Tennessee.

Stephen Brunt of the Globe & Mail said it best when he called the NHL the deep south's consolation prize for losing out on an NBA expansion team.
The NBA doesn't belong in Canada and the NHL doesn't belong in the Mississippi.

I live in Northern Virginia (1 hour south of D.C.) and I can tell you Washington D.C. is about as far south as the NHL needs to be. Nashville? Carolina? Atlanta? 2 Florida teams.....what a joke.
