Westwood is awesome. He's a consistant kicker that can boot the long ball. He's a Winnipeg tradition. I think he's more than good enough for the NFL but hey, I'm not an NFL scout.

Heh. The past 7 seasons have seen Keenan coach a team the whole length of the season just once, the 02-03 Panthers.

The coach can only do so much. You have to have the talent, heart, determination, dicipline to back you up as well.

PHOENIX COYOTES

The Coyotes... oh how funny that would be, especially with Gretzky as an owner.
I wonder what Blackthorne would say about a former "hated player by Jets fans" being the part owner of the Jets....? Lets hear it Blacky!

Sorry, I can't hear you.
I'm only answering to "The Godfather" these days...
Someone said the Coyotes moving to Wpg.? Nope; won't happen... they just had a little thing called "Glendale Arena" built in 2003 and strictly for the NHL... maybe you've heard of it...
Sure- they'll lose money every year. But the owners can (and will) keep running the team, because they can. Because they have those millions. Running the Coyotes is little more than an expensive 'hobby' for Gretzky and Co.
I think I do dislike Gretzky in a way... he never really cared for Winnipeg.

I think I do dislike Gretzky in a way... he never really cared for Winnipeg. Why would he? He once played for a "former hated rival".

I used to hate Gretzky too, always beating the Jets, but he was an amazing player and seems to have a good mind when it comes to putting National Teams together. I can't understand how he wouldn't like Winnipeg, I think he got more points against them than any other team in his career

He got his 2000th point here in Winnipeg. I remember that. He also stole the puck from our last game. Oh yeah, he gave us "A" puck back, who knows if it was the real one or not that was used in the game.

Sorry, I can't hear you. I'm only answering to "The Godfather" these days... You like being called "Blackie" too.. The Glendale arena was built for the Entertainment needs of the Phoenix area, not the Coyotes. You will see this when the owners drop the Coyotes, just like Gaylord dropped the Predators... Wrong. If the Coyotes lose too much money, the owners will cut losses, and sell the team. Yeah. I really hate a guy who revolutionized the game for the better. I hate a guy who single handedly exposed the game to more Americans than anyone else in history. I hate a guy who led our country to their first God Medal in the Olympics in 50 years. BTW...he never mentioned anythig remotely close to disliking the city..

Didn't he usually "sit out" when his team played in Winnipeg?
When he did play here, didn't he play just 1 or 2 shifts?
This is what I've heard... Lemieux did it to Wpg and I'm pretty sure Gretz did too...
Gretz owns the Coyotes... so why is there nothing that pays tribute to the Jets franchise anywhere in Glendale Arena?
Why hasn't Gretz commented on the NHL coming back to Wpg?
Honestly guys... I really don't think he cares too much for Winnipeg...

I'm pretty sure that Gretzky did not sit out when he played here. Yes Gretzky will make a comment about the Jets coming back to Winnipeg, just like all of the other teams that could possibly move here have said that they would love to move to the peg...
Dont expect Gretzky commenting on the NHL coming back to Winnipeg, it has nothing to do with him, and if he said "yes, why phoenix is interesting in returning to its true home in WInnipeg" I am sure that their season ticket sales and such would just plunge, and they'd have to offer tons of refunds. Gretsky has to be a smart businessman too.

Didn't he usually "sit out" when his team played in Winnipeg? uhh..no. Gretzky played against the Jets more than any other team. He scored more goals against the Jets than any other team. no. I've heard Lemieux did it. Saying Gretzky did it is ridiculous... What on earth do you have against Gretzky??? The Coyotes never really honored the Jets from the getgo. Gretzky just became owner in 2003(?) What is he supposed to do? Demand that they have shoulder pateches with Jets logos sewen to their jerseys? Has he ever been asked. It's not a big priority for him. Please elaborate.... [/quote]

I always went to the Oilers games when Gretzky was with them, I don't ever recall him missing shifts or even games. Everbody loved to hate him back then.

I was looking at the hockey data base site and in Gretzky's stats, www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/players/data05/00002035.htmlIt doesn't give notes due to why he missed games. But he rarely missed games. If he did it was probably cuz of injury. My opinion, he has nothing against Winnipeg and he does not hate this lovly city. He has had success in this city, so I would say it's up their on his "Wayne's Favourite Cities List", and yes, he has a "favourite cities list" just lying around somewhere in his huge mansion. Trust me. If a golfer has great success on a certain course (Gretzky has great success in a certain city, Winnpeg), that doesn't mean he hates that course (Winnipeg), he loves to play it everychance he gets. Oh and if he only got 2 or 3 shifts a game when he played us, I wouldn't blame him. I'd blame the coahing and management. But then this is Gretzky we're talkin bout here, I wouldn't blame them. Think of it this way: Gretzky is the greatest of all time, thus being "The Great One", and you have him on your team. You're playing the Winnipeg Jets who are in 4th - 21 points back of you in the division. Would you risk Gretzky possibly being injured just to play an extra 2 shifts in a somewhat meaningless game? I know I wouldn't... Why would anyone hate a classy man like Gretzky
