As I had posted in another thread, wouldn't it be mind numbing to have more than one team wanting to move here?
Let's say that Chipman and the NHL and everyone needed all works out. But, we have like 6 teams wanting to move here. Now I"m thinking of 5 teams that could possibly relocate from the States, suggest another if I missed it but....
Who would you choose if it were up to you and why?
Anaheim - Made it to the playoffs in 2003 Carolina - Teams stripped of talent Florida - Young team, could do well Nashville - Only team to make the playoffs in this bunch in 2004. Pheonix - Take our team back? Pittsburgh - Would Mario Play too?
You can also post why each of these would or wouldn't make a good choice.

1. These days I'm thinking Anaheim and Nashville are the front-runners to move here. If Anaheim moved here, it would allow the owners of the Arrowhead Pond to pursue an NBA team.
If Nashville moved here, Minnesota could easily move to the Central Division and we'd replace them in the Northwest Division. Nash. moving here makes the most sense, because the divisions could be easily altered.
Minnesota should be in the Central division anyways.
2. There's NO WAY Phoenix will relocate anytime soon. They've JUST had a $200 million NHL-only arena built. They'll stick around for awhile.... lose money every year, of course. But the owner has deep pockets.
3. I'm 90% sure Pitts. will have to relocate. Their new arena is not forthcoming from what I've heard.

Of those choices I like Florida, sans Mike Keenan. They have a very good goaltender in Luongo, a future all-star defenseman in Bouwmeester and some quality young forwards like Nathan Horton and Stephen Weiss. A good young core to build around and no high priced players that would have to be traded or released to fall under the salary cap. My second choice would be Nashville.

I'm thinking of Pittsuburgh because we would have Fleury in goal, Mario and maybe we could draft Syndey Crosby. Then of course chuck some of the garbage on that team and get some good low priced talent. Then again, after a new CBA, everyone will be low priced. LOL
I'm also thinking of Florida. Some good players there too and the potential is there. Just please not Carolina. Hehehe

Blackthorne I gotta disagree. Although, Fleury did look bad at times over time, he isnt horrible. He had NO defense and had rebound, after rebound. He first played well with the Pens..had some rough times too as well, but I wouldnt say hes terrible.
But I would like to see Florida. I sorta like them (although there shoudlnt be an NHL team there). But they have Lulongo, Jokinen, Houselis, Boumeester, and some good young guys, like Weiss, Horton, etc.
I mean I would take ANY team, but if I had to pick a least one probably Carolina...but anyone would be sweet.

While Nashville would be a good pickup I am partial to Florida because they have more young talent and an all-star goaltender in Luango.
The Preds are run by David Poile who has been a loser his entire career. (See vancouver and Washington for his previous failures which are too numerous to count.) Whereas the Panthers are run by Mike Keenan and Jacques Martin, two proven winners.

presidents trophy, 2002 olympic gold medal, world cup champs, jack adams. Also he brought respect to a team, he turned a team from a laugher into a contender

I think Ottawa drafted well that is why the team turned around, i don't like him as a coach, he was a member of the 2002 olympic team, not head coach, he could never get Ottawa past the Leafs and hasn't won a Cup.

ottawa has never had the solid goaltending to get far in the playoffs. obviously, martin was on the team canada coaching staff for a reason. i didnt see keenan there. what exactly has keenan done since leaving the rangers?

I think it was totally unfair Lalime was scapegoated for the Leafs-Sens playoff series Game 7 loss. I remember watching him against the devils in the conference final in 2003, as he stood on his head. The guy has one bad game, and people want to crucify him...

The guy has one bad game, and people want to crucify him... Welcome to sports and the short-term memoried fan. Mention the name Troy Westwood in this town and half the time people will say how Go Jets Go he kicked in the '01 Grey Cup. No matter if he's the leading playoff field goal % kicker in CFL history...
