lol, i herd that there was a poll done in Toronto, and 70% of people didn't seem to care.
tisk tisk tisk... but then again, i can see people in Winnipeg voting No also, just because they are so bitter, even though they would watch hockey all the time, they would still probably vote no out of spite... Spite towards what? you tell me... thats just the Attitude alot of people living in this city have.

For some teams in the NHL, it would actually be an improvement moving to Portland, Oklahoma and Houston. Houston, believe it or not, has a very storied history of hockey: www.houstonhockey.net/I'll take it further, and say Texas supports hockey better than any southern US State, by far... Kansas City would be a disaster, just like it was in 1974-76.... Oklahoma, or some strange reason, has always led the minors at attendance, or came in the top 3. That includes all leagues (AHL, ECHL, CHL, UHL, etc) Portland may be a good choice, but the owner is dead set against a NHL team playing in his arena. Seattle built the Key arena only for basketball. You know the NHL is in bad shape, when cities start building BASKETBALL-ONLY arenas.

I'm not sure, but I think this poll was brought up before.
One problem... think about when it was taken, who they are polling, where exactly those that are polled are from and the state of mind the pollers are in when they participated.
Now, I have taken polls more seriously when it has come to certain topics, even non-sports related. This one? This was done when the morale of fans was nearing its abyss (prior to the 2004-2005 season being cancelled). By the time February 16th rolled around, many American hockey fans were fed up and not bothered with the state of the labor war.
I'm not denying that there are many that don't care this lost season is gone, one may never know if the ones that participated are even hockey fans to begin with.
Honestly, did anybody expect people in Hawaii to give a crap there's no hockey? In Alabama? Or Mississippi? These are specific locales that don't. Mobile lost an ECHL team and I'm surprised the Mississippi Sea Wolves still exist.
But, as IceColdIan pointed out, some of that "no" vote could very well be out of bitterness betrayed by the NHL and NHLPA.
To verify this here, Key Arena isn't a new facility. Basically the former Seattle Coliseum was gutted out and completely renovated in the 1990s (kept the outer shell including the roof). The facility was built well before the most recent wave of NHL expansion, so without the prospect of pro hockey coming to Seattle at the time, making the modifications to fit a regulation ice surface and have adequate unobstructed seating was not considered.
Another thing, half the problem in Phoenix led to the current situation where two arenas now exist for two of its pro teams. Unlike Seattle, Jerry Colangelo made a big mistake in not making the arena a multipurpose facility without obstructed seats (for hockey and arena football). The Coyotes obviously couldn't profit there and that's why they had to build their own arena. The prospects for NHL hockey coming to Phoenix wasn't in the cards back in 1992, so that need to fit the create the seating configuration and ice surface properly in the arena wasn't done.
The only arena I can automatically think of that has just been built primarily for basketball is the FedEx Forum in Memphis. The Bobcats' new arena in downtown Charlotte that is set to open this fall will house the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers (the Rangers' secondary minor league affiliate), but the amount of seats won't be ideal (more intimite, if anything).

I can't even say I wouldn't put down "don't care" at this point. It's very embittering.

lol, i herd that there was a poll done in Toronto, and 70% of people didn't seem to care. I have a feeling most people in TO are lying. They despeartely miss their beloved Leafs, but are too proud to say so on record, due to the unpopular labour dispute.
