8-)As I read the "Kelly Moore" thread, and the numerous times we mention Jets former announcer Curt Keilback, I realize the city was at one time, blessed with one of the greatest play-by-play sports commentators in recent memory. Perhaps we should comtact him, and get his thoughts/views about the possible return of an NHL franchise to the city of Winnipeg! Here is his current employer: www.kdus.com/showdj.asp?djid=20150Youn can email the station, and it would be very intersting to hear what 'the voice of the Winnipeg Jets' has to say...

Tough call,
I'm sure he is happy in Phoenix. Another thing to remember is that if BJOB gets the broadcast right, (I seriously hope not,) there is zero chance of Keilback coming back. If CFRW gets the rights, there is a chance.

When did KY 58 give up broadcasting rights to Jets games? I remember in the 80's the Jets radio broadcasts were on '58-CKY'. I assume it was some time in the early 90's but I cannot remember the actual year.

The team of Curt Kielback and Kenny the Friar was untouchable. I remember listening to the games in my bedroom as a kid.....pre game, game, and post game.....some of my fondest memories. In another post someone mentioned CK's voice was burned into their memory, same goes here. Not just Kielback but the whole crew.
Anyone have any particularily memorable moments? I recall one time on the post-game, they asked Freddy Olausson how he was feeling when he saw his shot go in.....his reply "Oh, it felt f***ing great!". A few snickers from the booth and the interview was hastily ended.
good stuff, lots of memories...if you are reading this, thanks Curt!

Actually the 1993-94 season was his last on radio. He moved to CKND after that. (They were so desperate to replace him at one point that they took out ads in The Hockey News!)

BJOB took the broadcast rights back from KY in 1992 though.

They advertised everywhere, including the Free Press at one point. This really added fuel to the fires that stated that this was a snap decision on the part of Bob Irving. (He did the same thing to Les Lazeruk as well the year before.)
