A lot of people have been talking about Bob Essensa being benched and having Rick Tabaracci lose the series. What If they had let Essensa play?
Other What ifs.
What if Selanne had not been traded, and played in the Detroit Series?
What if Hawerchuck hadn't been cheapshoted in the ribs?
Any others?

What if:
we had aquired Gretzky when we had the chance?
or
we stayed in the Norris division instead of moving to the stronger Smythe division?

What if some greedy chump hadn't put cash over Go Jets Go and the team was still where it belonged?
That is truely the only "What if" that needs to be asked!

I know I should post this somewhere else, probably in the CBA section but I'll post it here anyways.
About Bettman. Can anyone briefly tell me how the hell he became the NHL commissioner, did he win a contest? And another thing when and how can we get a new and better commissioner.

The owners elected Gary Commissioner. He was the Vice of the NBA so he had experience in league operations in the US during basketballs big years. It is not up to us to elect a new Commissioner. That is the owners call and they recently inked him to a new offer so the odds of him leaving soon are slim.

with the nhl being in the situation that bettman got them, i wouldnt be surprised to see a new commissioner as well as a new nhlpa leader.

Only problem with that idea is that the owners locked up Bettman to an extension last year. I think it was something like a 6 year extension as well. So they'd just be handing out a huge settlement package to get rid of him.

I remember Barry Shenkarow playing "what if?" once in an interview and he asked "What if that fan wouldn't have thrown that box of popcorn on the ice during game 6 of the the 1990 playoffs?" I thought he was kidding but he was very serious, and almost looked angry. He went on to explain how the Jets had fought back after being down 3-0 that game to tie it at 3-3 in the 3rd and the crowd was going bananas. The Jets had momentum on their side, the Oilers on the ropes after 3 un-answered goals and could clinch the series with a win. Thats where a fan threw a box of popcorn on the ice. It took the staff a few minutes to come out and clean up the mess, when play resumed both the Jets and their fans seemed to have fallen asleep, while the Oilers got a chance to settle down and regroup. The Oilers came out with new life and that same shift Kurri scored to win the game and we all know what happened in game 7. Shenkarow went on saying that if they would have won that game the Jets could have won the Stanley cup that year as the Jets were the only team who gave the Oilers a fight.

Sounds like the "banana incident" in the 2002 Canadiens-hurricanes series. I think the Habs were up 2-1, and someone threw a banana at Canes' goalie kevin Weeks, who is black. The Canes' went on to win the next 3 games, and win the series, and made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.
It makes you wonder if bad karma had an effect on the habs after the incident...

What if Paul MacDermid hadn't hit the goal post in Game Five when we were ahead 3-1 in the game and the 1990 Playoff Series?
Had he scored, and made it 4-1 in the game, we may have finally beat the Oilers.
But....................

I am glad Paul has done well since moving on after the NHL. MacDermid Lumber gives Winnipeggers great rates on building material. We have a winter special on now!
