He's done more good for himself to line his pockets full of cash with full control of the mts centre ( consessions ticket sales) instead of the old arena contract!

I guess that shows how smart he is. The point of being in business is to make money isn't it?

I guess that shows how smart he is. The point of being in business is to make money isn't it? Exactly! Why don't you all layoff the man who built us the MTS Centre. The man who by doing so has given us a legitimate shot at the NHL returning. Just you wait and see all you Chipman bashers. When he announces the return of the NHl, I hope you enjoy the crwo you are going to have to eat! Why would we want the WHL? It is kids playing....go watch the MMJHL or Jr. B, or University if you want sloppy, kids, who would die to make it into the Pros. AHL is the pros!....It is not the NHL, but it certainly better than the Dub.

If I remember correctly Wpg had a WHL team while the Jets were there, i think it might have been during the WHA days of the Jets. There is no way that they could co-exist in my opinion. The arena they plan in Ft. Garry is nice but I don't get the point. It seems everyone wants to watch the juniors but pro is where it is at. Of course the Junior ex games in the Peg sold out, but that is the cream of the crop. I remember the Warriors before they left had no support at the arena (Blackthorne wherever you dissapeared to) don't want to hear about lousy facility for them. Winnipeg just can't do it. The city should put all it's energy into getting the NHL back, not WHL Ian MacLeod Bemidji, MN

Why is there even a thread about WHL?
This is about the return of the NHL!
WHL is a step backwards from AHL!
Lets get focussed again...NHL NHL NHL...

I agree...why the WHL talk? I don't think the WHL team would survive with the NHL here. We like our hockey, but Winnipeg is also very very very very cheap. The Warriors only lasted a few years while the Jets were here and I don't see how the two could co-exist now. If we didn't have AHL then the WHL would be a good idea.

Lets just concentrate on getting our team back then lets see in a few years what the demand for whl is like. If the city grows for what is forecasted then for sure there is room the whl.

I really like the WHL. Much more than the AHL that's for sure. Obviously some of you don't watch much of it and deem it "sloppy" hockey. Well even at it's worst times it's still more exciting than watching paint dry, also known as the league that is the AHL. Also, you get to see the up and coming stars that will soon be in the NHL or on the National Jr. team. I have no complaints with that!

I started this thread ONLY as a hypathetical situation! Our goal is to have the NHL back here correct? When the NHL comes back the AHL will leave correct? So what I meant with the thread was if the WHL came to Winnipeg with the AHL still here, then the NHL came and took the place of the AHL, could the WHL still survive? We all know the NHL will be the top dog in Winnipeg when it returns!

Yes that is true but I dont' like when people bash what they don't know. The NHL is the main course but the WHL would be a sweet side dish!
