Will there still be enough support for the WHL in Winnipeg if we also have the Jets here? And how much fan support (4000-7000)? Tickets would be $12-$16. I believe there would be 36 regular season games.

It might work. I know we would have a better chance of hosting NHL/WHL rather than NHL/AHL.

I could definately see it and would aplaud the move to get the NHL and WHL in this city! ;D Then we'd have to make a trade for Gilbert Brulé cause he's a machine!

If the WHL came here in the next two years it would sure force Mr. Chipman to act quickly to get a NHL team here. The WHL team in Winnipeg would of course be in it's own building.(see City of Winnipeg link WHL arena size? thread)

The WHL moving to the Peg sounds like a great way to get chipman to get his s**t together with getting a NHL team here, or otherwise he could lose a fortune with 7000 fans going to a WHL game instead of his beloved Moose!!!!!

you bet they could co-exist. i'd buy 6 nhl tickets @ $40 a piece & probably 10 whl tickets @ $16 a piece.

I think Winnipeg could support both leagues for sure!!! ;D You would have a huge fan base of Jets and NHL fans as well as a big fan base for WHL but you would also pick up some more fans because of the obvious price difference. Hopefully sellout both leagues!! 6000 fans a WHL game one night and 15000 fans at a Jets game next night. ;D

It doesn't look like any WHL will move in the near future. Edmonton businessmen offered some of the teams a very generous offer to buy out any current team, and move it to Edmonton. There were no takers. I guess we will just have to keep on waitng....

how long ago was that offer? NHL has since cut off support to CHL teams as of sept. cause of lockout. and edmonton now has ahl.

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have the WHL competing against the NHL in Winnipeg. The NHL team would want as much support as possible without having to worry about competition within the same city for fans. I say put the WHL on the backburner.

don't ya think having a whl team here may push chipman out of his complacincy of being the #1 hockey team in town and have to earn that title again buy bringing the nhl back

don't ya think having a whl team here may push chipman out of his complacincy of being the #1 hockey team in town and have to earn that title again buy bringing the nhl back Having a WHL team here would kill off the AHL Moose since: - The WHL is cheaper
- The WHL is more exciting to watch
- Instant rivalries between Brandon, Regina, Calgary, and Saskatoon
- No mid season player recalls, so fans can get to love the players
Chipman is scared to death of the WHL. he would never consider bringing in a Winnipeg-based team.

Your correct he wouldn't be the one to bring a whl team here! It would be another group and at a different arena.

I think the WHL is a dead issue right now. Isn't this jetsowner, not warriorsowner?

read my dec.27 post!!! it is about getting the jets here.whl coming here would MAKE sure CHIPMAN brought a nhl to winnipeg, otherwise he could potentially soak this MTS Centre deal for YEARS!!

I did read your post, Junior. I don't agree with your rationale, but you are entitled to your opinion. I think Chippy has done much more good than harm for Winnipeg.
