Assuming 6 divisions remains - the future Central Division: Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues.
If the NHL returns to 4 Divisions (thanks Ducky75 for your Midwest division idea): Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto should be number one because no matter how terrible the team is they sell out. When was the last time any sports team inTO was an even mild contender for a championship?
Argos draw flies
Jays draw flies
Raptors draw slightly more flies
NFL game in TO draws flies
Toronto FC .... again .... same
WOW WHAT A SPORTS TOWN!
Argos -- Toronto, for w.e. reason, just does not buy into the CFL thing.. as they see themselves as a "big league", "we want NFL" type of town.
Jays -- I'll give you that one. But honestly, if you lived in Toronto... wouldn't you also wait until the Red Sox and Yankees come to town? (as they often reach 40,000 ppl when they come)... instead of going to see them play against the Baltimore Orioles (or other teams of that nature)? And, if one looks back at the early 90s, the fanbase is there. They just need to win (or make the playoffs for once!!!) for them to come back. They even have the record for most attended seasons in 92-93 I beleive.
Raptors -- Until recently, the Raps had good crowds. The team has finished near the bottom 10 in the league for the past few years.
Toronto FC -- they sell out every game, so I really don't know what you're talking about.
Leafs -- I know you didn't mention this team..... but I don't think there's another fanbase that has been that loyal in sports, generally speaking. It's amazing how they sell out at the price they charge, given the team's performance these days.
All-in-all, you can't put any of this on the fanbase, but more on the production of their respective sports team. None of them have really been winners in the last few years. Not even a playoff appearance!
Toronto is a leafs city not a sports city Montreal is a Habs city and not a sports city Winnipeg sold out the Moose almost every night an amateur team, The goldeyes have one of the highest attendance levels in the league and the play in a AA independent league and the Jets sold 5 years of season tickets in 17 minutes....the writer of this article must be from Montreal
he needs to get his head out of his Go Jets Go
in ranking a sports city you rank based on the teams there, pro or amateur/ the number of buts in the seats compared to other teams in the leagues and how many times they have made the play offs, the Bombers have sucked the last 3 years and they are still packed, does that not count for something....the Goldeyes almost out draw the Blue Jays on a percentage level based on the number of people in the area
Toronto has about 5 times as many people in the metro area and draws 18 000 for MLB we draw 6 000 for the gold eyes...
kenas10: Go Jets Go! Here we are 7 years later starting the Conference Finals against the Las Vegas Knights! I'm still a season ticket holder, have been since day 1. I was KennyS and was on the forum the whole time!! Blast reading all of this. Go Jets Go!
