The reaction to WFP carrying the new forum is a similar reaction to what I expected if the team were not called the Jets... Imagine WFP forum AND Manitoba Polar Bears!!!

"Our Jets" certainly seems to be the best new forum out there, at least from an aesthetically pleasing standpoint. However it looks like every post you make needs to be approved before it appears, which is beyond ridiculous.
It will be interesting to see which forum becomes "THE" forum...!

It's not DF bashing at all. It's called having an opinion. And from where some of us sit, it makes little sense to close the doors here and start over with an inferior product. One can assume there was a financial arrangement and if so, good for DF, but I find it a little uncomfortable he'd endorse something he can quite clearly see sucks.
As for the unpopularity of the WFP forum, for me it's partially how clunky it is to use and bush league it looks and partially that the WFP is well known for it's heavy handed censorship. Some of us disagree with their politics and their way of doing business. Dont want to waste time on a forum that, if they disagree with an opinion, will censor me...or worse.

I'm not from Winnipeg so merely curious here but what political alignment is the WFP?

John White has said that there will be changes made to Jetstream within the week. so hopefully, it will be much better. having said that though, Grumpz's forum looks great already!

They are more of a left wing newspaper. So be it. But they have been known to favour strong censorship. I've heard stories of them deleting comments online that have an opposing view point.
And I can attest that they set out to have a very popular local radio show kicked off a Campus radio station and cost the host his job because the host disagreed with the Free Press. They essentially hinted at a lawsuit. Very disgusting in my humble opinion.

It's actually just a spam detection thing. Your first few posts are approved and then you're able to post without approval. I think i made three posts before I was able to make them immediately

And I can attest that they set out to have a very popular local radio show kicked off a Campus radio station and cost the host his job because the host disagreed with the Free Press. They essentially hinted at a lawsuit. Very disgusting in my humble opinion. You must be talking about Marty Gold's "The Great Canadian Talk Show" on RRC's KICK-FM. The head editor of the Free Press Margo Goodhand complained to Red River College about Gold's criticism of the paper. She appearantly used her political connections to yank the show off the air. What is even more amusing is she later lied about this, and was caught when email surfaced of her contacting RRC urging them to take the show off the air. You would think this would be enough to force her to submit a resignation. Keep in mind, this is the same newspaper that still employs Gordon Sinclair Jr. For those that don't know, Sinclair was involved in an altercation a few years back with a Domo Gas jockey, when he did not have enough money to pay for gas. Sinclair had reportedly bragged about his position in the Free press to intimidate the two Domo workers. When that failed, he chucked a piece of ID at the female employee's head. He then left without paying, returned and harassed the employees some more before driving off. Sinclair had no intention of apologizing, but his hand was forced when Domo phoned the police, and officers paid him a visit the next day. Sinclair was also involved in a road rage incident a couple of years back. The Free Press has always been slightly corrupt though. The comment section is highly monitored, and posts are routinely pulled for no valid reason. I wish Darren had done some research before helping create a forum that will be no better than AZCentral.

That's exactly right. I am shocked that Margo hasn't been forced to resign yet. Shady, shady, shady. Why is it always the loonie left that demands freedom of expression only so long as you share their opinion and demand censorship "for the good of the world" when you dont?
FREEP = Bad.

It's not DF bashing at all. It's called having an opinion. 43 pages of bitching about how much you don't like someone. Not a good way to get people to stick around your new forum.

This is only 5 pages long. We're not bashing Darren, some of us just do not like the Free Press forum. I think people have a right to express their opinion.

So Ford spends years hating on CJOB because he had a personal tiff with the station manager, then he turns around and aligns himself with the likes of the Free Press? Unreal.
Hope a forum on the official Jets site opens up.
