It would be EPIC if true.
Hey, we all thought at one point there was no chance that TNSE was going to name their team the WINNIPEG JETS -- yet great things just keep happening that are a Jets fan wet dream.
I still don't believe it but hey strange things have happened since May.

Teemu doesn't want to move his entire family for one season. Well, his family could stay in Cali while he just moves up here for the season...

I'm not sure if that sounds like a good idea, especially if he could get comparable money to stay in Anaheim. And Chipman isn't going to be Mr. Big Spender for little more than nostalgia. Not saying Teemu still isn't a great goal scorer, but the price would seem a bit steep. Who knows, I guess. But I seriously doubt it.

Teemu would lead the team in points/scoring, but his production would drop off because;
- he wouldn't be playing with the same quality of offensive talent on his line, and - the opposing teams would be able to focus their top defensive pairings against him because the surrounding talent won't scare them as much as it would in Anaheim.

Damn guys, the exact reasons you want Teemu to sign here (he's a stand up guy, class act, loyal) are the same reasons he won't. His loyalties lay with the Ducks at this point. Nothing wrong with that, he's got a family and they've been paying his cheque for years now.
Yes he got the rookie scoring record in a Jet's sweater, but he raised the cup in a Duck's sweater, so don't expect him to snub them for nostalgias sake.

While it'd be nice for nostalgia, I ask myself if we would be this interested in Teemu if he had never played for the Jets - if he had made his rookie scoring record with St Louis, for instance. Of course, the answer is no.
This is the team of Ladd, Byfuglien, and Kane. The team name is the only thing I wanted from the past, now let's move on.

Until the ducks were eliminated from the playoffs, Teemu was leading the league in playoff points...this after yet another solid season. You've given me no choice but to disagree, if the price was right and that was a real situation then do it! He'll likely score more than 25 goals...and is awesome on the powerpay!

Yep the guy can still play and produce, If we are looking for a winger who is proven and can put the puck in the net then why not.

Teemu doesn't want to move his entire family for one season. I'm aware of that. If I were in his shoes, I would probably do the same thing. I just find it in poor taste that people are dragging his personal life into the equation. Considering the class act Selanne has been, it's unnecessary.

Why would anyone wanna go from ANAHEIM to WINNIPEG at the tail end of their career?
C'mon now..... get real.

Forget about whether or not he's from the past. We're talking about a guy who put up 40 goals.. No matter who it is if he's willing to come here and score 40, you're an idiot if you say "We don't need him"

He did put up 40. In 05-05 and 06-07. 31 last year. I'm sure every player would be "willing" to score 40. Heck they'd be willing to score 100. Whether or not they are capable of doing so gets in the way.
Teemu's 40 goal seasons are over. Playing in Winnipeg next year I think 30 would be on the high end of his abilities.
No doubt he can still play the game and be productive. However is the money he'd demand for 1 season worth it? Would he make the team that much better than it already is.
Setting aside all feelings of nostalgia, my answer is probably no.
Honestly, I'd rather gamble and use that money to sign a young Zherdev. Zherdev would be cheaper.
I won't be complaining if Teemu signs here, I just don't think it's realistic. Maybe someone can make up a Teemumeter.

Yeah, he'd score 30 goals instead of 40 or 76... What a bum... (sarcastic)
