They are trying to take away benefits from the workers, I'm not a government employee so I don't get benefits to begin with, this is what the driver told me.

If you don't have insurance there are ways you can get life insurance and not worry ... PM me if you need some more info. (I work in the financial industry)

This strike could go on for a while, I don't think the union has much power in the matter, Canada Post has been over staffed for a looooooong time. They still think this is 1965 when everyone was sending letters every week.

good move to do a roaming strike. Keeps the mail going with only small delays. Doesn't piss people off nearly as much therefore making it far easier to get public support. And from everything I've read so far, the workers really are getting screwed here. There's no question that there isn't the same need for employees as there was 40 years ago, but that doesn't mean you have to take away their benefits.

I've been keeping close tabs on this strike as well since I am waiting for a driver's licence in the mail as well. But what benefits are being taken away exactly? I know sick days are being changed to 'personal days', but they still get 12 per year which is still quite a bit of sick days to take. I don't know what the union is trying to get out of this. There's no lay offs, and salaries are not being cut for current employees. Just end this damn strike so I can get my freaking mail on-time already!
