I'm not some kind of anti-government wingnut, but I never understood why alcohol has to be so heavily regulated in Manitoba. You go to other places and people can handle buying wine or beer in grocery stores, and even (GASP) enjoying them outside on a park bench or picnic blanket. Yet Manitobans somehow cannot be given these freedoms because we won't know how to handle it and we'll end up running wild. Thank you NDP overlords for giving us permission to buy wine at Safeway - on a limited trial basis only, of course

bars will be able to stay open until 2 on Sundays as well. 'bout freakin time. As someone who books concerts from time to time, having another night open is going to be awesome. I also like the sounds of the brewery pubs. I love pubs with a house beer. Also sounds like they'd be pumping up the support for microbrews, which is something I can get behind.
All in all, I like what they're proposing.

I really fail to see how this will really change anything, maybe crime rates in stores will go up but I cant think of anything else. Lets face it minors are going to get their hands on it regardless so thats not about to change

If booze wasn't such a "big deal" there would be less ppl going crazy... ex. Europe, I was there at 12 and had beers, as long as you have a parent or sibling of age, they don't care. Bout time! Who likes going grocery shopping and then making another stop for beer or liquor?> NOTME

Not to mention the lines at the LC, especially on a big night

This is awesome! Socials moving to 2am! SWEET! This is an NDP ploy to get people really happy before the election... i think so at least but i am not complaining LOL. Maybe ontario needs to follow us... their liquor and beer regulations are RIDICULOUS!

"MLCC to authorize exceptions to reflect unique hospitality opportunities that do not fall under the current 11 classes of licence by amending the Food to Liquor Regulation"
Maybe the SHED will allow open liquor ala St John's George Street for a "Red Mile" type experience? Or bars there won't have cabaret/lounge/hotel etc requirement to be able to serve alcohol?
