If you are going a little over the speed limit and just stopping for gas how long has it taken you? Just curious, I have have always flown there for Lolla and over events but the airlines rarely put these seats on sale anymore.

12-14 hours. Chicago itself is a crap shoot. I've blown through it in an hour, one year it took me over 5 1/2 hours just to get through the city itself.

It took me about 14 hours driving straight through and stoppoing for gas and food three times.
Try to avoid the rush hour drive when you hit Minneapolis and Chicago.

With stops, traffic and food, probably about 14 hours. Drove there from my NEPA home once and it took 17 hours with an overnight stay in Fremont, Indiana, and on the way back a comparable amount with a day spent in Cleveland (mainly the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame my mom was DYING to see, if you're planning on going there, plan a week to see everything!)

If you can really get moving, and avoid Minneapolis at rush hour, 12 hours. Its a very similar drive timeline as trip to Calgary... except the speeds in North Dakota can be mighty nice... 80-85 mph.

Yep...12-13 hours driving time by my count, avoiding rush hours.
It feels like a much faster 12-13 hours than the drive to Edmonton or Calgary...better roads, much more interesting with nice scenery and places to stop.
I don't get why there are never airline seat sales to Chicago... I decided to drive it last summer and as soon as I did I wished I had done it years ago.
