The Vancouver Canucks have recalled forwards Victor Oreskovich and Cody Hodgson from the Manitoba Moose today.
It’s believed both were summoned on regular recalls. That will preclude their return to the Moose until the Canucks are finished playing, if at all. It also leaves Vancouver with just one more recall available from the Moose, though emergency conditions such as injuries and suspensions don’t apply to that count.
Hodgson, Vancouver’s first-round pick of the 2008 draft, has had a season marred by injury and inconsistency but he did score 17 goals and 30 points for Manitoba in 52 games.
He was also recalled earlier by the Canucks and played in eight games, which included his first NHL goal.
Oreskovich has been back and forth in recent weeks and his hard-hitting style makes him an attractive option for the Canucks in the playoffs. He has played 40 games for the Moose this season, and 16 for Vancouver.
Today’s announcement of the recalls by the Moose and Canucks made no reference to the mysterious injuries and illnesses that prevented either player for suiting up for the Moose in their first-place showdown with Hamilton last weekend.
The Canucks begin their first-round playoff series Wednesday against Chicago. Manitoba starts its AHL post-season Saturday in Cleveland.

This is one of the big reasons I don't really give a shite about the Moose/AHL. I go to several games each year, and usually all of the playoff games, but this isn't the hockey I grew up with. I go because I love hockey, but I am not invested in a team that can't invest 100% to its fans.

I just cant stand these damn call ups, especially that Hodgson and Oreskovich will be sitting in the press box while we desperately need them. You spend all season supporting the Moose then Vancouver just takes away your better players. its such a slap in the face and Its so difficult to follow the AHL because of Shiite like call ups. Comon man, Vancouver finished first and are still taking players from us? this confirms that the Moose are really Vancouver's play thing and the Canucks could care less about us winning a championship. Which by the way we have ZERO. Hamilton has like 2 AHL Championships already. PLEASE NHL come soon so we don't have to put up with this garbage AHL. Sorry guys rant over.

It sucks, but they call it a farm team for a reason.
