What are the chances something like this could happen in all those great USA markets?
Habs fever prompts debate date change By Dominique La Haye, Parliamentary Bureau
MONTREAL — Concern that hockey fever in Quebec would overshadow Thursday night’s French-language leaders’ debate prompted the consortium of broadcasters that’s organizing the verbal sparring match to bump it to Wednesday night.
At a campaign event Sunday morning, Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe expressed concern that many people would skip the debate in favour of watching the Montreal Canadiens battle the Boston Bruins in their first game of the NHL playoffs.
He proposed rescheduling the debate for Wednesday.
Duceppe said he hoped the other party leaders would join together to try to convince the consortium to change the date.
“I think it would be good for democracy if the debate was held Wednesday instead of Thursday,” Duceppe said in French.
In its announcement about the schedule change, the consortium said the participating parties agreed to the change, the purpose of which is to ensure the largest audience possible.
The consortium said it believes the date change is in the public interest.
The debate will run from 8-10 p.m.
The English-language leaders’ debate is set for Tuesday night.

There's three things in life you shouldn't do. Pull on Superman's Cape, Spit into the Wind and Get in the Face of a Habs Fan...unless your a Flyer's Fan, because we love to piss off those Hab Fans. ;D

I don't see anything wrong with changing the date. People aren't going to be as interested in the debate as the hockey game if they are on the same night. This is for rating's sake.

Also, since Van's on the West Coast there would never be a conflict due to tme zone differences. They play Wednesday, and their game start 1 hour after th debate end.
