So the Hawks win the cup last year and then dismantle the team within days after the parade. Buff and the boys go to Atlanta, not in the playoffs and not a lot of fans to cheer them on. Chicago might not make the playoffs, have to wait until later today to find out. Not sure where all the other members of the Cup are but you get my drift.
Lots of people including players themselves say they want to play for a winner, right?
Would they or you have taken a pay cut across the board last year to stay together and stay a contender or be in the situation they are today?

They probably would still be together had their former GM not screwed up on getting the offer sheets in on time. That cost them a lot of cap space. Whether they won or not last year, there was no way to keep that team together. Lucky for them, they got to win before they had to dismantle it.
