Anaheim and LA cannot both win -- they are playing against each other. The worst Phoenix can do is 7th, and that scenario requires Anaheim beating LA and Chicago winning. IF LA's loss is in SO/OT, LA drops to 8th on the non-SO wins tiebreaker. LA would have had the yotes on points with a win. 6th or 7th. Do we want them to play Sharks or Wings?

ok,
The Coyotes blew it and lost. That's part 1.
Part 2 happens tomorrow. Chicago defeats Detroit, and leapfrogs over the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes end up in 7th and play San Jose.
They will get destroyed.
Detroit is without Zetterburg, and has nothing to play for tomorrow.

I'm watching both games on NHL CentreIce -- Teemu just got in a fight w/ Richardson; and then Brookbank made mince-meat out of Clifford. That Clifford guy has to learn to block a punch.

Heres how I see it, Anaheim is leading LA by 2 goals with 3 minutes, assuming they hold on Anaheim, Nasville, Phoenix and if Chicago wins their last game will all be tied with 99 points.
Now the first tie breaker is games won which Anaheim beats everyone in so they have 4th for sure. It all depends on whether Chicago wins their last game.
Heres how it can playout
Chicago wins
5 Chicago 99p 45W 6 Nasville 99p 44W San Jose 7 Phoenix 99p 43W 8 LA 98p 46W
Chicago Loses
5 Nashville 6 Phoenix VS Detroit 7 LA 8 Chicago
I would bet on Detroit over the choke artist sharks but the one thing that is for sure is the Coyotes will not have home ice...I wont even call it advantage because when the away team has more fans in the building its not much of an advantage.

I have to disagree. Detroit is not healthy 100%, and if the Red Wings have choked, it is usually right away in the first round. With the Sharks, it usually happens in the 2nd round. Plus the Sharks have had the Coyotes number all year.

sidenote:
A Chicago loss and Dallas win means it's Dallas vs. Vancouver and Chicago is out. However, Phoenix would still play Detroit, so it really doesn't matter from that POV.
I think whether it's Detroit or San Jose, it's good news for us "Antiyotests"(?). Their fall apart for the last stretch means it'll be an uphill battle for them from here on out.
I like the symbolism of them playing Detroit, but like it was mentionned, San Jose is probably more dangerous. Either way, I predict they lose in 6 games.
That leaves just 3 more home games for them this season.
GO DETROIT/SAN JOSE!!!!

Teemu's last series as a Duck before joining Winnipeg next year? ;D
