It seems as if more is beginning to surface from the players whether it be tweets or Paul Friesen's video interview that the NHLPA and its players are beginning to back the move to Winnipeg.
They have a vested interest in the success of the league with their revenue sharing and salary cap increases... It makes sense for them to back the move.
Has anybody heard anything from the union themself or other players?

The NHLPA would unofficially be very supportive of getting rid of or moving any team that can't make the grade for the reasons you mentioned. (salary cap primarily increasing)
Also Donald Fehr had a pretty strong history of this in baseball representing the players. (think Expos)
I'm sure they will stay very quiet as the union is still in shambles but they would love to move about 4 teams if they could.

During the last Bruins game on NESN, Jack Edwards said that Andrew Ference, the Bruins union rep (and a pretty big NHLPA player), had been fielding a number of questions from players about Atlanta and Phoenix. It was Edwards way of makng a point that all the players, regardless of where they play, have a vested interest in fixing this.
