any lacrosse fans on here? Box lacrosse is a popular canadian sport so why not have a winnipeg franchise. could play at the MTS centre and if the NHL comes back it could fill the void of an affordable sports event (tickets wont be bad) that people can bring the kids to.

With a manitoba team competing for the first time in the rocky mountain lacrosse team lacrosse is finally beginning to build itself up here. If TNSE would allow it Im sure we could house an NLL team in a few years. Id support it.

The Manitoba Gryphons are the first MB team to play in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League. They have aggressive plans to grow the organization and lacrosse in Manitoba. They hope to host the nationa llacrosse championships in 2013 and eventual goal is for Winnipeg to have an NLL team.
They presently play out of Oakbank Arena. Due to many factors, including very few stands, they want to move into Winnipeg. They want to take over Roland Michener - high ceiling, lots of stands and the City wants to 'repurpose' many of the old money losing arenas.
MB Gryphons need to convince the City and Councilor Wyatt to turn Roland Michener over to the Gryphons to be a high performance training centre for lacrosse and home of our RMLL team

What end of the city are you in? The league has 4 different zones, North Falcons, East gryphons, West Shamrocks and South Sidewinders (I play junior there). In addition a reserve just before Powerview called Sagkeeng usually has a team along with beausejour and Selkirk. In high school some schools have field lacrosse teams which is a totally different thing. |
