It has of more assured than the Coliseum "that was going to be done". According to him, the city no longer awaits after the money of the Federal one but it did not want to advance itself on are them that could be invested by the city. Nevertheless, still according to the say mister Side, several scenarios presently would be at the study. According to him, the deprived will equally be included in this construction, but it did not want to advance itself on the provision of the latter in the eventual construction. ----- Yotes to Winnipeg; Thrashers to Quebec City ;D

I see one big possible announcement by the NHL coming. Wouldn't it be intense if they announced BOTH relocations at the same time?!?!

Sounds like the writing is on the wall for two teams (and I'm sure we can guess which ones) to move in the next year or two.

I think there would be nothing better then both announcements the same day...Winnipeg and Quebec, back in the NHL.

^ based on bettmans comments last year addressing the state of the league, that may just happen since he wanted to "correct a few wrongs". of course if he wanted to correct all wrongs hartford would prolly end up with a team as well.

I do want Quebec back in but I don't want them to steal our thunder. Don't even want to talk about QC right now to be honest...like why is this thread in ROTJ and not the "Competition" category?

I think it will be at least another year before they annouce the relocation of a second team, assuming of course the Coyotes leave Phoenix. Quebec and Winnipeg moved a year apart in the 90's as we all know, and i doubt Bettman would abandon his Sun Belt Plan so openly, and so quickly. They will 'do everything they can' to keep the Thrashers in the ATL for a while, just like they made this Phoenix crap last nearly 2 whole years.

This is great news. No one should be worried about them taking a team and us not getting one. Our ownership group is solid as any in the NHL.

After the ROTJ and ROTN are announced on the same day, I hope the leprechaun gets .... (never mind, I won't say it, probably get me in trouble).

I just want ROTJ to have the spotlight to itself, for at least a day. I kind of agree with Allyk00 anyway though.

English version: Quebec City to announce construction of arena within monthPostmedia NewsQUEBEC — Quebec City will have a new NHL-calibre arena and the official announcement will come within a month, a top city official said Friday. Richard Cote, vice-president of the city’s executive committee, told radio station CHOI Radio X the municipality is going ahead with a plan to finance the construction of the arena without a significant investment from Ottawa. Related “If we wait for the federal, we’ll wait forever,” Cote said. He noted local officials still hope Ottawa will eventually foot part of the bill for a proposed 18,000-seat arena that the city hopes will help lure an NHL team back to Quebec City, which lost the Nordiques to Colorado in 1995. Cote said the city is working out details of the financial plan which is likely to include more funds from the municipality as well as investments from the private sector — notably by selling the arena’s name. “It’s a done deal. We’ll have a new Colisee,” Cote said, making a reference to the current outdated arena, known as the Colisee, constructed in 1949. “Give us three to four weeks,” he said when asked about the official announcement. Quebec City Mayor Regis Labeaume declined to comment Friday on Cote’s remarks. The provincial government has promised to cover $175 million of the expected $400-million cost. The city has so far committed $50 million. Federal Minister Josee Verner said this week Ottawa has not ruled out chipping in to finance the new arena, but stressed it would have to be part of a national program to fund professional sports facilities. ------ sports.nationalpost.com/2011/01/21/quebec-city-to-announce-construction-of-arena-within-month/

I think the fans in Quebec City want their team just as bad as we want the Jets. For that reason, it would really be neat to watch the first "Battle of Quebec" in 16 years on Hockey Night in Canada (even better, on opening night!) from the old Colisee can you even imagine?!?! That old barn would be absolutely filled to the gills and ear-splittingly loud!!

That's quite a derogatory term you've used there, especially considering how many of us "Canadians" including family members of mine died fighting Nazis. You should play nicer than that.

18,000 is pretty big for Quebec City, don't you think? No. I think it is just about right for a city of the size similar to Winnipeg. My only wish was that TN built the MTSC around the same capacity.

I'm kind of thinking that we should take care of our own backyard before worrying about others.
Kudos to Quebec on starting the process of constructing a new arena and future aquisition of an NHL team. End of story.

It would be absolutely awesome of Winnipeg & Quebec both got a team next season. 8 Canadian teams back in the NHL!!!
Hockey day in Canada...4 games on CBC, Vancouver vs. Calgary, Edmonton vs. Winnipeg, Toronto Vs. Ottawa, Quebec vs. Montreal. how awesome would that be? 4 Canadian rivalries all over again!!
