It would also be a better for nhl if winnipeg was to get coyotes all they would have to do is swap colorado and winnpieg in divisions and later on atlanta would evently move to quebec and i am pretty sure they would end up in montreal , leafs , sens division not quite sure who would move out of that division maybe boston? It could happen with the bs moving down. Would sucks cause of the Canadiens Bruins Rivalry but theres also the flyers bruins rivalry which is cross division. Easy way to do this is to relocate two teams to winnipeg and quebec then contract 2 and return to 2 divisions

Not a whole lot new here. In fact, I didn't get the warm and fuzzies from Daly about Winnipeg being a NHL market "right now". "We would have to look at it, but we believe it could be." And I was disappointed that I Winnipeg-based show would ask only one softball question about Winnipeg's NHL prospects. Well even GB admitted we were 5 min away from being an NHL market in May. So now he's back to "...we'd have to look at it..." I think they already did. Anyway its all BS as long as there are still games to be played in Phx or Atl.

I fully expect the NHL cold shoulder until a deal is done to either keep the Coyotes where they are, or they announce the move to Winnipeg. The NHL needs to appear to be on the fans side to keep them buying.

Any team, for next season, please!! Agreed I guess the only concern is another bone headed moron considering buying the thrashers and keeping them there.

^^^ Only if hes willing to build a new arena! The current owners of the Thrashers also own the Hawks of the NBA and the arena both teams play out of. They dont even want the Thrashers playing out of their arena. And its the only suitable arena for NHL hockey in Atlanta!

I'm really beginning to think that Mark Chipman has been given his choice of Coyotes or Thrashers (based on what Daly said and Darren's little riddle).
I figure the NHL has a plan to keep whichever team Chipman does not pick in their current market via another "Barrie & Koules" type owner.
I would say we could have either team, but I'm guessing Chipman prefers the Thrashers, because they represent a "new start" for Winnipeg, rather than a return of the Jets. For example, we would probably be more supportive of a name other than Jets if the team we get is Atlanta. But if we get Phoenix, more people will want to see them called Jets.
So to sum it up, Chipman probably has his pick and he's leaning towards Atlanta.

The 'name' of the team in WPG does not dictate these types of issues in any way imo. Each city has different issues. My guess is that Atlanta Spirit Group is worth more without the Thrashers and $170 mm than with the Thrashers and $20 million in yearly losses. In Phoenix consideration is being given to the fact that the building was purpose built for the Coyotes. Only if an owner shows up will the team stay. In the case of the Thrashers the lease holders of the arena may not want the NHL team and the arena was built with the NBA in mind; NHL was just an add-on. So, 2 different situations.

also without the thrashers they could make a run at more free agents in the NBA instead of not being able to sign them.

I wantthe JETS. They are a way better team with a way better future. relativey simple fix to see them in the finals. Atlanta to mee looks like a bit of a 5+ year plan.

Any team. Period. I can't believe some here are being picky now. Look what we knew18 months ago. Nothing!! We would have jumped on any possible team.

Read closely. He's saying it would be the second time Canada has "stolen" a team from Atlanta. He's referring to the Flames.

While the Coyotes are the better team right now (probably the best they've ever been in Phoenix - and yet still no fans!), the Thrashers are going to be amazing in a few years.
Their core is very young and incredibly talented: -Evander Kane -Zach Bogosian -Aleksandr Burmistrov -Tobias Enstrom -Andrew Ladd -Dustin Byfuglien -Nicklas Bergfors
They're going to be very good for a long time. It almost seems fitting that they go back to Quebec City as a contender, considering what happened to the Nordiques once they moved to Colorado.
