Just out of curiosity why would you like the WHL over the AHL when the AHL is made up of mostly former star junior players, who aren't ready for the NHL yet. Go to a game in the WHL you will figure it out for yourself. I've been to many WHL games in Brandon, Regina and Saskatoon. The games are alright, but the levels of play is no where close to the AHL. The very best players of the WHL are drafted, of those the best of those players are placed in the AHL and ECHL teams, less the smallest handful of players who make the NHL right out of juniors. It doesn't make sense to suggest the the best junior players would be less exciting to watch that junior league of players mostly who will never see a professional game in their lives.

It's an interesting discussion. Would True North want to force those on the financial bubble to find a way to dig deeper for NHL tickets, or provide them an alternative?
What kind of attendance do WHL teams get?
The good thing would be the synergy with the parent NHL team, selling ticket packages. Those that have a lot of income and will go to every NHL game would likely be interested in WHL also...could inflate the attendance quite well.
And ofcourse, you're charging NHL prices for concessions and merch once they're in the door.
I was really into the Thunder when they were here. I was in Junior High (or High school) when they were here and Basketball was a big sport for us kids. Not so much anymore. I recall an awesome atmosphere and good crowds at the old Arena for the Thunder. It could work with True North owning the team and not worrying about rent.

Why not just keep the Moose here and be the farm team to the Jets? Why bring a WHL team where it would be way more interesting to have the NHL-AHL Combo? Would there be enough fan support? I would imagine that there could be more support for the Moose then any other type of sport in any other league that could be brought in. At least in wouldn't suck as much when your star player is called up to the parent club!

Winnipeg has a deep history in amateur lacrosse. The NLL could be a good idea.

The WHL would be perfect for those who can't afford to go to the NHL games. I would attend both for sure. The people who say we wouldn't support a WHL team because the Warriors were not well attended are like the anti NHL group...stuck in the past. IMO a new WHL team would be a huge success this go around.
