I think that Darren deserves some credit for injecting optimism that wasn't in the city before JetsOwner. He should drop the first puck at the home opener.

You should've put Norm Maciver on the poll.

I think Darren is an okay choice, but I'd prefer it was one of the former Jets. Thomas Steen spent his whole career in this city, and still lives here now. He chose to retire rather than move to Arizona. That's some damn loyalty there! He deserves our respect and appreciation and this is one way we can show it.

Mark Chipman
Although Darren has done an AMAZING job in keeping this site up, spreading the "Return Of The Jets" goodwill, nobody ( and I mean NOBODY ) has worked harder then Mark in assuring Winnipeg's Role back in the NHL.
** I should mention; If it was me picking, Mark Chipman would be a no-brainer however, Darren should be rewarded somehow for his efforts in the campaign. **

How about Thomson, Chipman, Darren, and a couple former Jets?

No brainer, Chipman. My humble opinion is that no one can even be mentioned in the same breath. (No offense to anyone). There would probably be some sort of record for standing ovation! Pre-drop Chipman would thank the appropriate people. But Mr. Chipman is nothing but class for not only a team but for the province. That is how I would plan it

I think all the above (Including Bobby Hull) should drop a puck for an equal number of youngsters. It would be a transition of the the previous generation to the new generation of fans and potential NHL stars.

Why would you even put Tkachuk in there. I ran into him a few times in Wpg back in the day, arrogant dip, tried to pick up my girlfriend, when she turned him down, he pulled the "Do you know who I am?" line. In social settings he treated Teemu like crap! I was pretty disappointed when they kept him and let Teemu go.

i wouldn't pick a hockey player...i would pick someone that is responsible for the return of NHL to Wpg...Chipman deserves it but he's calling the shots so might not choose himself...i could see a group of people being involved in the ceremony rather than just one or two individuals...

Darren.
Or Don Cherry.

How about a top representative of the NHL...i.e., Gary Bettman? Wow, would that ever create a memorable scene! Or how about CJOB's Bob Irving? He's been the radio voice of ROTJ for the last 12 months or so.
Seriously though, Eddie O., Selanne, Steen would all be fine with me. If Chipman wanted to do it, that would be okay. Maybe a parade put on by ROTJ Nation would be more appropriate for him. Cherry was kind of the last word of the old Jets, so would be a great choice to drop the first puck for the new Jets.
Darren...would be my choice because who else has given fans a place to keep their dream alive and tangible for 8 years?

You should've put Norm Maciver on the poll. What did Maciver do other than the last goal? He played for my Penguins briefly in the mid 90s and he sucked. Interesting note though: he got an assist on the first goal in Ottawa Senators history in addition to the last Jets goal.

I voted other because I'd like to see Darren, Don Cherry, and possibly Mark Chipman (can an owner do that?) have a shared ceremonial puckdrop. That would be awesome!
