I would simply point this conversation to the "polls" section under the name of the team poll. No one argues getting a team is the most important thing, but if we all agree it's just a matter of time now until we do, what is wrong with debating the finer points? debate all you want, but I think people are getting too caught up in the team name when the objective is to get NHL hockey back. True North will do right by you guys, if they bring the name back, great! If not & they go with something else, guess what....you still have NHL hockey....

Well that's the thing edog, no one argues that getting the team back is the most important thing. And no one argues that we'll love the team no matter what its called.
But that doesn't mean we don't all have our preferences, so it can't hurt to make it known what our preference is so long as we're all still saying goal number one is to bring a team here.... and that's what everyone can agree with.

Nobody cares if you debate the name, but why in gods name must you debate the name in a thread called "coyotes negotiations". There is a time and place or name debates...this thread is not it.
NOW...if we can somehow get back on topic.
Thanks or this hard work, reading all that info brought back a lot of memories, even though bad. Being that many years ago, it wasnt as hard to read as I thought it would be. Well done!

Being that many years ago, it wasnt as hard to read as I thought it would be. Well done! Well even as I talked about it, I knew it was wrong. That's why (in my defense!) I tried to point the conversation to another thread. Anywho, thats the problem though, we weren't even debating the name in this thread, I was just debating that it's even okay to discuss the name, which I don't see why it wouldn't be (in the appropriate thread). Now back to this story, it was great work done by John, so good job. Great job actually... I'd love to see him put together a story like this on all the articles done since 1996 that talked about how people need to give up on the dream of the Jets... but once the return of the Jets is official!

If you feel a thread is going off topic, STOP, contributing to the problem by constantly commenting on what you say you don't want to talk about.
Bring back the JETS!!!

Holy F__K...guys..
Anyway, things are looking odd down there. Looks to me that COG is just looking for someone to blame. I really don't think the NHL will have an issue at this point of being the bad guys.. They will just dust off their shoulder and move on... Everyone understands the issues of keeping a team there so this is not a Winnipeg or Quebec situation where you had fans....
The new arena, yes is an issue since it was built for them but that is all Glendale has of the puzzle..... The NHL will have no problem taking the fall...

^^ Let's hope so! Right now it's hard to think that the Coyotes will be saved. But what scares me is how quiet things have been.
I mean, is that just because no one in Phoenix gives a rats arse about the Coyotes, so it just doesn't get any attention? Or is it because negotiations are actually going better than we realize so there hasn't been any need for a lot of blaming others in the media.
I doubt thats the case, but when we don't know a lot about the negotiations it just makes me worry!
Go Jets Go and Die Coyotes Die!

If they move the NHL team, they'll have a few disappointed fans in Phoenix that have no one to blame except for the first owner of the Coyotes who should of never brought them their in the first place vs. 10's of thousands of Canadians yelling "It's about time"! It's a Win Win situation for the NHL, a happy BoG, some great new rich owners and more interest in the markets that matter.

cut the crap. True north will bring you a team. You have no right to bash anything they do. This name crap is out of hand on here. Appreciate what you are about to be given. The jets left. Are you spending 170 million? did you build an arena? did you invest in the city like they are? they have the right to do whatever they want including make the franchise their own. 100% AGREE!!!!....Lets not start this again, you like threads being locked down Ric?? Sheesh, talk about over reacting! I don't lock down the threads and I probably wouldn't have locked down the ones where we were actually talking about the name thingy. But maybe some of you were getting a bit out of hand there so they had no choice. In any case I just threw a short comment in a response to a comment where it just happened to fit. And it was just my opinion, not derogatory in any way...and in predictable fashion about 8 of you guys...well I lost track at 5 have fallen all over yourselves congratulating each other for trying to take me to task. But you guys are the ones who have gotten off track so I suggest everyone get back on topic! The coyotes debate is an important one and is coming to head soon.

Yet another coincidence... Jets were going to host the draft... That is correct. The 1995 draft was to be held at the old barn.

I remember arguing with a Coyote fan on another website and he was saying that the transplants from Detroit and other Northern US & Canadian cities are "asshats" for only going to Coyote games when their team plays against them. Their fans simply won't accept that there is literally no interest for hockey down there. For example, the excuse on their arena location. I would think that if they had a solid fanbase but a bad arena location that they would get a good number of viewers watching on TV, they got 7000 in 2009 and I believe 11000 last year. That's terrible!

I can see both sides of the name issue but I don't see why the people who are convinced that there is no chance that the name will have JETS in it get so upset. Who cares if some guys (or gals) think the name should be the jets. Just because some moderator on a website who allegedly has 'inside' connections with a team that doesn't exist yet thinks it won't be called the jets doesn't mean that you should jump down the guys throat, even if some keeps saying they want the Winnipeg Jets back on the damn, return the jets website. Mr.Hendrix, I like your youtube page!

DKehler really seems like a martyr in this situation. He doesn't care what you think the name will be as much as you care for his opinion. Either way we have no team at the moment and who knows how long it will be. Do you know how hot it is in Phoenix? Those people are heat f'ing crazy! Who knows what they will do, mayor might even buy the damn team! CRAZY PEOPLE! Get real, name arguing people!
