The expansion is planned in three phases over three summers. This year is going to be press boxes. Another section of seating is being planned at the floor level but not until next year as they will not be able to book concerts while this happens, and third phase she was unsure of. I can not post where this comes from as I do not wish to create unemployment. But it is from a source I would deem to be very reliable. How they plan to do the floor level seating is beyond me. i wonder times we have heared that over the past 4 months lol. but hey, could be true lines up with what i was told in feburay.

This doesn't make any sense to me. For the amount of equipment needed to be brought into the actual MTS Centre for the press box alone...it would ONLY make sense to do everything all at the same time to limit the amount of "damage" done to the surface area. Don't forget; the Pressbox is built INTO the ceiling joists so; you cannot just move the pressbox up without lifting the entire roof...

Wow...my neighbour is the forman for the MTSiceplex and has said this to me word for word... He also says that he has been taken off the MTSiceplex prodject and is heading the expansion prodject for MTS center. He claims that there will be Skyboxes added, and the roof will be raised to add an additinal 2000 seats.. ummm are you being sarcastic or for real? Being for real... all I can tell you is what he said to me... Guess we will all find out is this is legit or not soon enough. I can tell you that my neighbour is a straight edge kinda guy and doesnt B.S. I do know for a fact that he has been working at MTSIceplex since the drawing board. If he claims that he is going to be working on an expansion of MTS center thats as good as fact for me. I'm not a "Hotdog"/Jetsengine kinda guy. I know its hard to back up a freind told me info but i'm just throwing it out there. Take it for what it is.

Its all beyond me actually but I have been hearing about it since Feb. I was sitting at a moose game looking around saying to myself " how the hell are they going to expand this place" so I asked the people who are in the know and they all insist it is happening one even bet me pink slips! So I will go with the belief of what I have been told but still cant figure out the how.

I think there probably are plans but I just don't know if anyone can say for sure if this is happening without knowing that a deal is done. It's all contingent on a team.
I need some real confirmation but this info is good stuff.

I heard in the past 24 hours there are 3 construction projects lined up as well...so this may have some merit. I have also heard Jim Ludlow say that there are no plans to increase seating. I heard this straight from the horse's mouth less than 2 hours ago

Jim Ludlow was definitely in winnipeg today. Interesting...Not what I heard. Regardless; I agree with the statement you presented. There are NO plans to increase seating capacity as of today's date. None. Not PCL, or SMS have said that there are plans in the works. As far as Shield; I'm not too familiar with their work. However; that said; if PCL & SMS have not had any plans come across their desk that is officially presented; than I personally believe nothing is planned for expansion. Time will tell. I do know that should the NHL in fact be on it's way back to Winnipeg; there would have to be something done to address the situation with the pressbox. Size & viewing area is definitely cause for concern.

The only way that they do floor seating is unless they sink or the floor as they did with the Ricoh Centre in Toronto, when they renovated and expanding the arena when the Toronto Roadrunners now Toronto Marlies came in to the AHL.

that contradicts what jhendrix is saying. My friend told me that his boss was told to be ready with the project once a team lands here. I believe my friend more than anyone on this site.

I believe my friend more than anyone on this site. could it be that Hendrix works for PCL and was told to keep a lid on the info. It's just a theory but he always has access to drawing schematics and pictures of the MTSC. I could be way off base but...
