I would take a photo with it standing beside it but I would NEVER hoist it! Not in a million years the ONLY people who should be allowed to hold the cup are those who've won it, and the official handlers with the white gloves. i dont even think gary bettman should be able to hand it to the winners. bring it in on a table and get out of the way. i am so sick of watching him get his paws on hockeys grail. he is no hockey man.

Well said Viv - Unfortunately Bettman loves to get his mug everywhere so we are stuck with his being EVERYWHERE. Take the Hockeyville announcement on Saturday - have you ever seen anything more pathetic than having the winner announced by Bettman himself? So we hold this big CANADA wide contest (my town was in the top 5 BTW) and where do they go to announce the winner? Well where else by NYC, USA where the commish starts talking about "Grassroots Hackey" (he can't even pronounce the word right). Sickening. I will cherish the day when it is officially announced that the Weasel is no longer heading the NHL...

EXACTLY - that is so disrespectful. If any tom Go Jets Go and harry could, the cup wouldn't be so special.

OK, so baby in the cup - OK Pictures - OK HUGS AND KISSES - ok NO PICK UP!
Interesting... I actually didn't know that there was a rule "no picking up" .. I just honestly figured people didn't bother as its heavy...

Pfft. If I was given the chance, I'd lift the Stanley Cup like Lil Jon in a heartbeat. It would be my only chance to do it seeing that I'm unlikely to win one...

^ Is that the actual rule? I didn't know that. pretty much. Some tool in Detroit actually picked it up during a photo session with fans a few years ago. He got tackled to the ground & hauled away..... ;D
