OK,
I had some questions and decided to open another thread. I read some of the past comments and its starting to really worry me. I hope Darren maybe can shed some light or "comfort" on this as well.
Here it is:
Winnipeg has been in the fight to get the Jets back for 15+ years... (wow I never thought I would say that). We are so close, our feet hurt, and you just wanna sit and finally relax. NOW TO ME, this Quebec thing came out of the blue, I didn't realize they were fighting for the Nordiques to come back, well SOON. KC, Vegas etc.... I have heard about before but just never looked at it seriously.
- What makes Wpg better? - How can we win over these other cities? - Just because we were fighting longer, probably doesn't mean jack right?
Anyone know the ins and outs of this.... like I said, I am a little concerned over this.... and we are on the freakin door, we just need to knock. I would hate after ALL of this that we loose to the likes of KC, Vegas and YES EVEN THE Quebec-ers.

WOW that is awesome thanks for that! I totally didn't check that site out in a while, and haven't seen that at all! Thanks again!
As for the 3 the Europe got, since I have family there (Germany) I can positively say, that it could be a 2!~ My cousin says that there is no hockey interest at all, and that the only time she notices something is the Olympics. My uncle says the same, and that hockey isn't as popular, nor do most German's even understand the rules. The only reason my uncle kinda knows is cause of Dad and I! GO FIGURE!

Unfortunately, the NHL is like that corrupt guy in the office that no one likes. The politics involved in this organization are ridiculous, and sometimes even has me wondering why would we want this back...
The real only threat in my opinion is Kansas City and their sprint centre owned and operated by that group from LA. Betman is in tight with them.
Then you can't rule out Reinsdorf, who is the original contingency plan for the Coyotes, and I havent heard much on him since the bankruptcy hearings. Reinsdorf was asked to keep the team in Phoenix, but I believe he is smarter than that.
People have mentioned Oklahoma and Las Vegas, yet I find them to be underdogs. Oklahoma just aqcuired an NBA team, and it sounds like the Oilers are moving their farm club there. I doubt their is room for a third dance partner.
Las Vegas has yet to host any pro sports team for obvious reasons, and I dont think thats going to change any time soon.
As long as Chipman and Co. are playing the political game, getting involved and getting positive reactions from other BoG members, we should be ok, and remain atop the list.
Only threat, IMO, is Kansas City.

Kansas City is closing schools right now, their priority is not a high priced bunch of millionaires playing hockey.......
They barely support the Royals.
The only game in town is the Chiefs.......

Winnipeg and True North has to be the clear cut favorite at this point:
-They stated their intentions (publicly) four years ago -They have a world class facility in the MTSC -Their AHL team has one of the highest attendances in the league -They are building a state-of-the-art training facility for their AHL team -They have hosted four NHL exhibition games in the last four years -One member of their ownership group is Canada's richest man and would become the richest owner ever in the NHL -Winnipeg doesn't infringe on another team's territory -We previously supported an NHL team for 24 years -Bettman clearly stated in a private email that Winnipeg would get the first shot if the Coyotes were relocated -Daly is quoted as saying the NHL would love to return to Winnipeg -Dreger reported the BOG already approved a relocation contingency plan for the Coyotes and one of the possibly cities was Winnipeg
What other city even comes close?

^ I agree with WJG. Not only do we have the facilities in place. The ownership group in place. We also have a proven fan base in place. Though our arena may be smaller... it's been stated before... better to sell out a smaller arena night after night than have lots of empty seats in a much larger arena!

Even though, it is widely accepted that Chipman is in good standing with many "hockey circles", I just hope that some type of political agreement doesn't keep him out of the running. Such as Betman's buddies at AEG that own the Sprint Centre in Kansas City. I get it, that we are the better choice... but never rule out something like this, especially in the NHL. If they announce that they are seeking relocation, I can see the Coyotes selling way over asking price of roughly $160M. Bettman has said that many groups are interested in expansion or acquiring a franchise. I would bet that a bidding war would ensue.
