Sounds like the Preds are finally about to break into Round 2 after so many years! They kinda are like the T-Wolves of the NHL, breaking into the playoffs frequently but almost always getting beat in the first round.

Come on dude, you don't need to be prejudiced against the South.quote] Bettman's going to point to Nashville as yet another example with Carolina and Tampa who repeat are not going anywhere, and say "See Hockey works in the South" We need to quit giving him this fodder. He's happy they won, therefore I am not I am hope they lose in the 2nd round. I fear their fan base is too far already established unlike Atlanta or Phoenix precisely because they make the playoffs most years.

"Why be sad that they have an established fan base?"
Because thats one less team that can and will eventually move to Canada or somewhere else where they belong. This is one less team for Winnipeg, Hartford, Quebec, if and when it comes down to it. You may be happy, I am not. As for the Nashvill fan referring to the Preds as "We" why exactly are you here on a Winnipeg forum? Spying on us or what?

Ease up, man. Not so sure Raleigh is more south than Raleigh. They are basically on the same lattitude. Having been to both, Nashville is a much more southern city in feel. Raleigh, in feel and attitude is much more mid-atlantic with a certain northern feel. Much of that comes from the engineers that move there to the tech industry and now the Pharma business. Nashville, which is a great city, and where women outnumber men 3x's, enough that even the most avg guy, can date good looking women (and trust me, Nashville has plenty of attractive women), being the largest city in TN, has a large influx of college graduates looing to live there. Not to mention, the "famous" factor that Nashville has in/around the city. So, Nashville is not more northern than Raleigh.

I for one am truly happy that hockey is starting to work in Nashville. If hockey can work in non-traditional markets then that is great for the game. Places like florida, Atlanta and Phoenix have failed and need to be moved, but nothing wrong with southern cities if it can work there.

The great thing for Winnipeg is it proves that small cities can turn a profit and compete without an huge payroll. The Preds are at the midpoint and not the bare bones minimum as reported by TSN. BTW The Bridge seats only 2K more fans and still generates money. Also the team isn't charging ticket prices that you would have to mortgage your home to attend a game. Which also helps the fans in Winnipeg. Instead of hoping for our demise (looking at you FU Bettman) Winnipeg fans should be point to us as a example of their potential.

I always chant it when I hear it, whether it's my high school's football games, WBS goals (I want it changed, but the team deletes every anti-RRP2 comment on FB), or just listening to goal horns

If Nashville is succeeding then good on them... it means they are doing something right. I'm not going to criticize them for that for being a successful small market, North or South. I just want to see our Jets franchise return home where it belongs. The franchise is a major failure in the desert for many reasons and I'm not going to waste time repeating what they are. It's time. Go Jets! Go Preds!
