The City Council on Wednesday approved a two-year exclusive agreement with the Cordish Co. to study the feasibility of an 18,000-plus-seat arena anchoring a 20-acre development near U.S. 95. The project would include property now occupied by Las Vegas City Hall. Cordish is to study public financing for the arena and look into recruiting an NBA or NHL team. A previous developer recently bowed out of a plan for an arena at another downtown site. Cordish has developed projects in other cities. Its Kansas City Power and Light District links a convention center and downtown sports arena in Kansas City, Mo. This is not to be confused with Harrah's proposed arena in LV.
